Tucker Eskew, another senior Bush White House communications aide, is serving as senior counselor to Palin’s operation.

Tucker Eskew's name may not ring a bell (and the article refers to him simply as another senior Bush White House communications aide). Tucker, it seems, was the architect of Bush's 2000 strategy to smear McCain in South Carolina. (This would include the push-polling on the Keating 5 and the rumors that McCain's adopted Bangladeshi daughter was really his illegitimate black baby, among others.)

That's how far McCain has drifted from his 2000 maverick status. He now borrows Bush's attack team to guide his campaign and educate his VP choice.
