Bill Clinton in Monroe
It's been a while since I had the chance to go hear Bill Clinton sell his wife's economic plan to supporters in Monroe, NC. I'm sorry it has taken me so long to update you on the event.
First, I have to say that my overall impression was so positive. He spoke highly of Barack Obama and said he would make a good president he just though Hillary would make a better president. Unlike what we see on the national media, he was very positive. I kept waiting for the digs at Barack Obama, but they never came.
There was a fairly large crowd that filled the space. I don't know how many hundreds showed up, but a woman who came to lean against the wall had been there for 6 hours waiting in line.
This area overwhelmingly supports Hillary Clinton - at least the more vocal portion of Democrats. The crowd was excited to have former President Clinton visit and seemed to be eagerly listening to him explain his wife's economic plan. There was enthusiasm, but not the overwhelming frenzy of excitement that we've heard about from Obama events.
The former President spent the hour or so outlining what HIllary would do to strengthen the middle class - lower taxes, bolster housing market, make college tuition more affordable and provide affordable healthcare - being among the points discussed.
No, I didn't get to ask him a question. I did enjoy going simply because I'm a political nut. What can I say?

It's good to know
that he hasn't grown a tail and horns as the MSM would have us believe.
Progressive Democrats of North Carolina
I think they do him like they do everyone else
they take the worst moments and play them over and over again. I had prepared myself for the worst and was pleasantly surprised.

Bill has always been cordial
Was this when he came to UNCC?
The crowd there was a little less than 4,000.
I saw him in Statesville too, and he gave an awesome speech when I thought he would give the crowd the same material he did that day (in Charlotte), but he didn't.
I eventually made the realization that he's not as bad of a person or president, that some may want you to believe...but I guess that's just the politics of 'hope'?
Nah...this was in little old Monroe
Actually....I think it's the politics of the Media trying to control the hype....not the hope.

Right.
They want a candidate who will excite TV viewers
I love him
There, I said it. I love him; I've always loved him. If he had called me instead of Monica, I swear I'd only have told a few people at work.
My mother does too

Top House Democrat denounces Clinton campaign tactics
Its funny how Bill can turn on the charm and swagger to get people to forget his "transgressions". Its like being married to a wife beater and inviting them back after the bruises heal.
Laura....you're welcome to write your own post
...but don't piss all over mine. Got it? Thanks.

Rep. Butterfield: "an "irreparable breach" btwn black community
The full quote and context is here:
NO Democrat can win the General Election without the Black vote.
The problem is that Hillary can't win the democratic nomination unless she wins every single election contest with 60% of the vote. She can not catch up to Obama's lead. Her other option is to try to get delegates and super delegates to go against the will of the people.
She is losing superdelegates as time goes by, while Obama is gaining superdelegates. A top Clinton fundraiser just defected as well.
Obama has entered an agreement to help the DNC raise money, Hillary hasn't agreed to such a deal.
No wonder, since her campaign finances are so tenuous, even with the neary $10 million in donations after the PA primary, Hillary Clinton’s debt continues to grow.
Hillary cannot win without breaking Barack Obama's back, the math is against her, and a stolen nomination would be an empty win because the Democratic Party would be destroyed.
Betsy did you take that picture at the top?
It's wonderful!
I would be lying if I said I was happy with Bill Clinton's comportment during his wife's campaign - but the fact remains that I still believe that he was a good president, and seeing him is seeing history.

Yes indeed
He was a good president who could have been a great president, and I'll always be sad about that missed chance. BUT, I did get to meet him (way, way back when he was stumping for the ill-fated Dukakis campaign), and I told him at the time that when he ran for President, I'd support him. He gave me a delightful smile.

Yes, I took that picture
I took a lot of pictures. I'm happy to share.
I wish I'd had my video camera. It's pretty powerful hearing the opposing candidate's husband say that Barack Obama would be a good president. It helped erase the uglier visions I had of him that had been shown in the national press. I'm glad I got to see him at a point where the rhetoric is being toned down.
