If the funds are not appropriated, State Board of Elections executive director Gary Bartlett has said counties would likely be forced to operate 100 fewer early voting sites than were available in 2008.

Patsy Keever, a member of the NC House from Asheville, will announce her candidacy for the 10th Congressional District Democratic nomination on Thursday.

Keever, a former school teacher, will make her announcement in Gastonia, the home of incumbent US Rep. Patrick McHenry. She will make her announcement at 1:30 p.m. on the steps of the Gaston County Courthouse.

Being a pro-business Democrat is a good thing; being a corporate-owned Democrat, less so. Working with leadership to better serve North Carolina is a good thing; responding "how high?" when party bosses and well-paid alums tell you to jump, less so.
