Free market price fixing: Generics on the rise

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has reported the discovery of a new batch of bogus Avastin, in addition to the incident published March 14th on BlueNC. This product was labeled as Altuzan, the brand name of the drug used in Turkey. It is used with chemotherapy in treating colon, lung and other kinds of cancer. This shipment was traced through at least six different countries before arriving in the United States. The only location that authorities cite for using this drug is a clinic near St. Louis, MO.

The FDA and manufacturers tend to minimize publicity on these events, but for different reasons. The FDA does not want the public or Congress to get the impression that they are not doing their job, while the company is concerned about any damage to their brand name. The motivation for making and distributing these items is the exceptionally high and rising price of some drugs that has proven to be a powerful magnet.

From the Orange Satan:

Why do lawmakers make it harder and harder to get an abortion, even in the cases where the mother will die, but easier and easier to get a gun? Do they only care about a life before it is born?

Why don't gun buyers have to follow the same rules women are forced to follow? Wait 48 hours after applying. View on ultrasound of a body with a bullet in it. Listen to the heartbeat of someone as they die of a gunshot wound. Get a lecture from a surgeon on what it is like to operate on a gunshot wound.

After all that, if a person still wants a gun, he or she can buy one. Why should buying a gun be any easier than having an abortion?
