Then something is finally working! Man, it's been a rough 18 hours down here in the Blue Mines, but I think we finally have things at least sort of close to normal. There have been casualties, though. Find out more about that below the fold.

No BlueNC for you on Sunday from 3am until 6am:

We were just informed one hour ago from our building management that an emergency maintenance window is scheduled for this Saturday morning, February 24th, at 1AM PST. UPDATE! The building has just changed the window to be 23 hours later.. it is now scheduled for Sunday morning, February 25th, at 12:01AM PST. This maintenance window involves taking our entire building’s power offline for approximately 3 hours. The word from the building:

It was discovered by ABM Engineering during the power monitoring equipment installation, that a Phase C Conductor Cable on UPS #4 has been compromised to the point that immediate action to repair it is necessary or a ground fault will occur to the building systems.

Very interesting [via Engadget, where you'll find a photo and a link to the original news item] —

While it's no secret that LEDs light up the night in a more efficient (albeit expensive) manner, few locales have given the idea of lighting up the town en masse with LEDs any serious consideration. In a feat that would surely oust Brussles' Dexia Tower in terms of magnitude, city officials in Raleigh, North Carolina are hoping to make the Capital City the "world's first LED city."

Is there some other way to read this?

I am the County Chairman of Caldwell County and know for a fact that a person, now deceased, who lived as a young man in Caldwell County and moved to Raleigh many years ago to pursue a business in running campaigns and later had a State Government job, was registered to vote in Wake County. However, after he got the 10th District Congressional Congressional Race for McHenry's opponent as a client, he re-registered to vote in Caldwell County while living still in Wake County. We in Caldwell County knew about this----but---- he was a Republican and we did not want to "say bad about another Republican". Now what is the difference in this "story" and your allegations? I have been a faithful reader and subscriber of your paper and have encouraged a local man to become involved with you paper. Now, I feel I must reconsider my support and faithfulness to your paper. Jo Murray, Caldwell County Republican Chairman

Is there any doubt that this is Waverly Place?

You know what was a great idea that didn't make it in this shopping center? The sushi sports bar. I'm just saying.

I'm long overdue in creating an FAQ for the site, and there are a few hours of my life that I've lost answering common questions that I could have addressed in an FAQ. Over the next few weeks, I'm going to be putting together some "help" files, and I could really use some assistance identifying the questions and answers that will be most useful. If you'd care to pitch in, simply leave a comment to this post telling about a problem you've had here at BlueNC, or questions to which there don't seem to be ready answers. No question or problem is too small or too rare, and even the off-the-wall stuff can help me structure the help files. So let's have it! "Somebody ought to explain...."
