Star-News endorses Hampton Dellinger

The Wilmington Star-News endorsed Hampton Dellinger today. Interesting that they've rolled out all their other endorsements (other council of state offices, governor, local race) in the preceding days, but saved Barack Obama and Hampton Dellinger till the big Sunday reading day right before Election Day. I think they feel strongly about Hampton...and Obama, of course :-)

Qualifications matter, because in the unlikely event that something happens to the governor, the lieutenant is first in line to step in.

Jim Neal / Kay Hagan debate

sorry to make a post just about this, but does anyone have the debate footage? From what I've heard, it was amazing and Jim Neal kicked ass. I am dying to see it.

Tearing down signs

Apparently, someone took a large number of Dellinger for Lt. Governor signs down in Chapel Hill. It is obvious that another campaign (or campaign supporter(s)) did it because ONLY Dellinger signs were stolen. Please do not do this. Just because Hampton's volunteer base has done a fantastic job putting up signs doesn't meet people should feel jealous and tear them down. Not cool. And if anyone on here knows anything about this, please let me know. thanks.

Dr. John Hope Franklin endorses Barack Obama

This big endorsement may have gotten lost in all the other politics going on, but Dr. John Hope Franklin, a person some call the greatest living American, has endorsed Barack Obama for the Democratic nomination.

"He has shown an ability to bridge the divides in our society and unite people behind his agenda for change," he said in a statement.

Franklin has also endorsed Hampton Dellinger for Lt. Governor.

HAMPTON DELLINGER wins DURHAM COMMITTEE endorsement

Hampton Dellinger has just been endorsed by the most powerful African American group in the state: the Durham Committee on the Affairs of Black People.

Please find the press release for this key endorsement below

The backing of the Durham Committee gives Dellinger a clean sweep of the African American endorsing groups so far, which include the Black Political Caucus of Charlotte-Mecklenburg, the RWCA in Raleigh and the Black Leadership Roundtable of High Point.

And Helms begat Reagan...

Arguably, Ronald Reagan's Helms enabled win in the 1976 NC primary was all the encouragement he needed to try again in 1980, setting the stage for the Reagan Revolution and synergistic escapades like this one...

TrueMeckDem on Myers Park Pat

"My opinion of Pat has changed over the years. I used to think he was truly a man of the people but the longer he has been mayor, the less I think of him.

As with most cities, Charlotte has three political parties: Dem, Rep, and Chamber of Commerce. Pat is definitely the puppet of the COC here. What is good for business is good for Charlotte and Pat ... very personable guy, he has gotten a bunch of Dems in these parts to vote for him but I don't trust him."
