NC Senators Back Weak Military Education Plan, Want to Keep Education from Military Members

Today, the U.S. Senate blocked the McCain-backed military education program.

The McCain/Graham plan calls for would give only $2,000 a month for service members that have more than 12 years of military service and was offered as an alternative to the much more effective Webb plan which would give service members 36 months of tuition, book costs, and a stipend.

2008 Primary Analysis: Onslow County Commissioners

This is a cross-post from Bloviations and is the second in a series of posts examining 2008 Primary Elections in Onslow County.

The Primary Election had some very interesting results for the Onslow County Board of Commissioners. It appears that Onslow County voters are unsatisfied with the current Board and want new representation.

2008 Primary Election Analysis: NC-03

This is a cross-post from Bloviations and is the first in a series of posts examining 2008 Primary Elections in Onslow County.

Primary 2008 over and all that’s left is to clear the battlefields of the dead and wounded. For North Carolina’s 3rd Congressional District, that means sweeping away Democrat Marshall Adame and Republican Joe McLaughlin.

Craig Weber defeated Marshall Adame by nearly 30,000 votes (or 39% of votes cast).

Aragona, Jr to Compete for NC House of Representatives Seat

The Jacksonville Daily News reports.

"I plan on bringing my conservative Onslow County roots to Raleigh and challenging the liberal establishment," Aragona said in an e-mailed statement announcing his intention to file for state office.

Marshall Adame: Makin’ the News for the Right Reasons

Joe McLaughlin isn't the only candidate in NC-03 making the news today. Marshall Adame was spotlighted by the New Bern Sun Journal for more positive reasons, though.

"My opinion of Pat has changed over the years. I used to think he was truly a man of the people but the longer he has been mayor, the less I think of him.

As with most cities, Charlotte has three political parties: Dem, Rep, and Chamber of Commerce. Pat is definitely the puppet of the COC here. What is good for business is good for Charlotte and Pat ... very personable guy, he has gotten a bunch of Dems in these parts to vote for him but I don't trust him."
