The Last Straw

Welcome Back My Friends ...to the Show...
Submitted by Unique on Sat, 04/07/2007 - 5:47pmthat will hopefully end - soon.
There are other choices for this OLF.
We know it. The Navy knows it.
It is not about need - it's about greed.
The Navy would destroy a world class wildlife refuge for an Outlying Landing Field (OLF) that the Navy itself has said it does not need.
My most interesting conversation of the evening was with an SEIS 'hostess'.
I asked her if she were a scientist; she answered affirmative - she said she was a geologist.
NO-OLF Rally a Huge Success
Submitted by Unique on Thu, 04/05/2007 - 9:53pmAnd a very good time was had by all - well, the Navy guys might not have had such a great time .... however, I must say the folks in Washington County are super polite. (They were much nicer to the Navy than I would have been)
Enjoy the show. More later.
Broken Pavement - Remix -

Pavement.
My little two lane paved cowpath is currently being used by tandem dumptrucks working on the 70 Bypass project.
It's coming apart. The county was out here twice - maybe three times yesterday - for the same hole. Right at the end of my neighbors driveway. It's funny. They patch it...here comes a truck....rrrrip...there goes the patch. Over and over and over.
Last week they patched a blow out bigger than my truck!
They came back three more times. Each time with a bigger truck. Finally, they decided to fix it right.

I saw this article this morning on WRAL. If you don't have good SPAM protection, I recommend not clicking. McAfee Site Advisor lists it as 'Yellow' -
(and here I was blaming my subscription to the Chicago Tribune.)
It inspired me to share this with you.
Shearon Harris, Gentle Giant
Shearon Harris put in a good day's work
Steaming along
Boundless energy the name of the game.
The people were happy and warm
Industry prospered
and their children played in the shade.
Then one day people noticed a decline in
Shearon Harris
now aged and infirm, output reduced
Their friend had become a stranger
potential foe
a dangerous quantity among them
What shall we do with Shearon Harris
The Do Nothing Crew
Submitted by Unique on Sun, 03/11/2007 - 5:30amOur non-representative elected officials do nothing again.
You can read it here.
Elizabeth Dole says: "At this point, it's a matter of the process," Dole said. "We still need to get answers to the questions."
I ask: 'What questions are you not getting answers for, Ms. Dole?'
The state of North Carolina is overwhelmingly opposed to this OLF, what more do you need to know? Do you not represent us in Washington? Then pray tell, who is it that you're representing up there?
Inquiring minds demand to know.
Senator Burr says: Said Burr, "I don't think it's a member of Congress' role to tell the Navy where or where not to place something."
I would ask him: 'Then what exactly is your role? What do you think you were elected to do up there in Washington if not represent the people of North Carolina?'
Online Activism Snapshot Ohio
Submitted by Unique on Tue, 02/27/2007 - 10:09amBlueNC is a great place to network for political activism. It's a growing community with many representative voices that I hope continues to grow.
As I've shared with many of you, I have friends all over the country and indeed, all over the world. I'm sharing these links with you to showcase what other bloggers are doing in other states.
My personal philosophy is to 'pick the best - consider the rest' and go on about the business of getting people involved in their community.
