I should be there!

We've got sick youngins, but if at all possible, I'll be there.

Thanks for letting us in on this.

I don't know if I can make it, but it's a great opportunity. Thanks! (Someone who goes, take a camera and a computer.)

Come on up, Lcloud.

You can stay at my place if you don't want to drive home afterwards. I'd love the chance to say hi in person.

You're so sweet!

I actually have to check the calendar for Friday to see what's on at work. I will try to make it. I don't think I'll need a place to stay. I might even bring my hubby with me.

I think I can make it

I spent the whole holiday sleeping, coughing, etc.(my kid was sick and gave it to me - with ear infection and bronchitis thrown in for good measure) but I should be well enough to come by. Just ignore the rattling sound from my lungs. Well, that may be how you can identify me, actually!

What I want to know from Miller

What I want to know is why he voted to continue funding for The School of the America's?

An amendment to the foreign operations bill was introduced in 2007 that would have cut funding for this terror camp and Brad Miller and Mike McIntyre were two of only 41 Dems that voted to retain the funding. Even Heath Schuler voted to cut the funding.

Good question

That is a great question worth asking. Do you happen to know the bill number of the vote you're referring too?

Our babysitter bailed today...

which meant I took a half-day off to care for the kids, so I am back at work until 9pmish.

Dang! Sorry to miss this great opportunity, keep it up Brian and Ruby.

Just got back from meeting Congressman Miller

It was a great event. Special thanks to Brian R., and Ruby S., for arranging it all. We had a great conversation about blogging, the media, politics and life . . . and Brad was his usual (and much appreciated) candid self.

Wish you all could have been there.

Brad is awesome.

Any particular comments from MY congressman stand out?

Person County Democrats

He had some interesting things to say about

the strained relationship between the blogosphere and the mainstream media. There were a couple of reporters there, so hopefully one of them actually wrote down what he said. I'll look for links tomorrow.

He also talked about how politicians and candidates related to blogging - as a double edged sword. His main point there was this: if you don't have something to say - or if you can't bring yourself to actually say it - you'll find yourself not very welcome in the blogosphere.

(I think we generally do a good job welcoming politicians and candidates here, and are probably too easy on them. But we're learning how to engage with them - and vice versa.)

Thanks for the info. Brad is sharp enough to do well

in both worlds. The comment about the blogosphere having a low tolerance for issue avoidance seems spot on.
My hope is that the MSM will wake up and start acting as the watchdogs they have been in the past. If they continue to act like corporate toadies, then they will become increasingly more irrelevant. I wonder though if that will be possible with much of the media worried more about its bottom line than quality reporting. That torch may in the process of being passed.

His stance on the SOA

I appreciatte his stance on most of the issues I find important so that is why I find his stance on the SOA so troubling. We missed cutting off the funding by six votes and he was one of 41 Democrats who voted to continue funding.

I got there late and had to leave early

As far as I know, the topic didn't come up. He's explained his vote (which, like you, I disagree with) and I'm not sure there's anything else to say about it.

I can handle a few disappointing votes in an elected official. But not a lot of them. I'll take Brad any day.

What is his explanation?

What is his explanation? I've never heard him say.

Since When is Campbell Brown My Hero?

Trying to get a straight answer out of McCain spokesman Tucker Bounds.

BTW: I'm glad that Talking Points Memo posted this excerpt on Youtube, but since when does TiVo'ing something allow you to brand it with your logo? That's the Wild West...
