PPP poll on US Senate Election 2016

In the Senate race Richard Burr continues to have his requisite mediocre approval numbers with only 29% of voters giving him good marks to 39% who disapprove. Deborah Ross is now polling within 4 points of Burr, 43/39, following the announcement of her candidacy.

Burr has [slightly] wider leads over the other Democrats in the field- it's 44/35 over Kevin Griffin and 45/34 over Chris Rey. None of the Democratic candidates have greater than 27% name recognition at this point...

Republican Mike Causey to take second run at Wayne Goodwin

Mike Causey was previously a 2012 Republican candidate for North Carolina Commissioner of Insurance in the 2012 election. Wayne Goodwin has given no indication of plans to step down and is the presumptive Democratic Candidate again in 2016. Here is how their race against one another in 2012 came out:

Lindy Brown announces for open NC House Seat in Wake Co.

Democrat Lindy Brown announced her candidacy for what will become an open House seat in southern Wake County, when Rep. Paul (Skip) Stam retires after the NCGA short session in 2016. Lindy is a retired social worker (MSW, UNC-CH), and she is a former Wake County Commissioner. She ran and won in 2006 in a county-wide race.

Scott Pelley and CBS News owe us an apology

CBSNews is apparently enamored of former Congressman and Sen. Ted Kennedy's son, Patrick Kennedy. I thought the 60 Minutes interview done by Leslie Stahl was a good piece of journalism. Then Scott Pelley had to overdose on the Kennedy legacy, and ran a segment on CBS Evening News tonight with Patrick Kennedy giving a lecture to America on how to prevent gun violence through mental health legislation.

ACLU of NC: Errors in municipal Election mailers

The Executive Director of the ACLU of NC called about 30 minutes ago. I was told the organization is looking into the errors that resulted in election mail intended only for November election voters going to Cary and other cities with elections on Tuesday, October 6th.

Please check with you local County Board of Elections or local media for correct and up-to-date information on where and when to vote on Tuesday.
