Blue is blue, right?
Like all of you, I have been living for the day when North Carolina and the nation would 'go blue'. That's not just a sports statement in NC, but a political statement too.
Recently, I have been working as Chair of the South Carolina for Edwards Group (counterpart to our North Carolina for Edwards Group) since I live near the state line and it is quite convenient and I enjoy doing it. I have recently completed a website for our group SC for Edwards and http://www.southcarolinacampaign2008.com whereby I used a blind forward on a second Domain name in an effort to pick up more traffic.
Now, I have been rather pleasantly surprised at the number of 'Blues' I have met in SC and like the rest of us in the country for the past six years they have been pretty much in hiding. One person even told me that she no longer had anything with the colors red, white and blue as she didn't want to be confused with a conservative. I responded that I refused to allow them to dictate my patriotism and had taken several 'subversive' measures to 'in your face them' when they tried.
Last weekend while in SC, I came out of a restaurant one night and there were four people standing around the back end of my car. Fortunately, there was someone with me or I would have been a little intimidated but I went on to the car thinking someone had 'oopsed' my car and I probably had a dent. Surprisingly, that wasn't the case. When they realized it was my car, they seemed a bit embarrassed and then I realized they were all looking intently at my bumper sticker. It wasn't one of the 'really' activist' ones but a 'John Edwards for President 2008 bumper sticker'. So, I said 'Like my bumper sticker, huh?' to which one man replied with something nearing awe 'yeah, I do.' Gee, now I wish I had an extra one. You mean I have to start carrying those in the purse too. I have often given away the pin off my coat... the shirt off my back isn't good enough, they want the pin off the shirt.
Now, the mind plays strange tricks and I am wondering about the possibilities of getting some people there interested in a 'Blue SC'. So, I thought I'd ask first about what is involved in getting it going before I 'challenged myself' further.

Nope they'll vote Blue
These are long term and committed Blues. After all, SC was in Edwards corner last election. He mentioned that at the announcement event in Columbia. We are talking dedicated Blues. I met with a small group last weekend in Charleston. One of them was bemoaning that had she not been committed to the Energy Day, she would have been in DC at the Peace rally. These are solid Blues. There are a lot more than I had thought too.

Well there is
Carolina Blue and Duke Blue.

REally?
Now why would you think of those two, just because every prayer ends 'this we ask in the name of Dean Smith...' ;-)
