BlueNC Events Calendar
By now most of you have had a chance to get used to the changes at BlueNC. Our look may be streamlined and clean, but the new blocks for special features provide us with a huge challenge. We have to keep fresh information in the blocks every day or two while maintaining fresh posts on the front page every few hours. Thank you for bearing with us as we try to adapt to these new demands on our time and the new requirements for our site plan.
Today I'd like to point out BlueNC's resurrected events calendar. Down in the center of the bottom block you will find a listing of events. If you click on the word "more" it will take you to a calendar where you can scroll through the months. We obviously are in need of some more events on our calendar.
All members of the front page team and all admins can add events to the calendar. We will also open up the listing of events to a staff member of each political campaign as well as select non-profits and Democratic Party clubs, committees and other organizations. Please contact me through the contact form if you would like to represent your group.
When you fill out an events listing, the form looks very much like a diary entry. Please put all pertinent information in this entry as it shows up on the tracker for the first day or two after it has been listed. It allows community members to comment or ask questions about the event and it is what will be pulled up when the event's individual link is clicked on down in the events listing or on the calendar.
After filling out the form, the event is automatically added to the list in the bottom block (block #5) and the calendar connected with it. There is also a link that comes up with a graphic on the right sidebar. Look for the "You've Got a Date" graphic to appear every now and then. Click on that graphic and you will also visit the calendar.
If you know about something that needs to be added and you aren't with a campaign or a qualifying not-for-profit (sorry..but I just gotta keep out those JLFers) just let one of the front page writers know. For those who are relatively new that means Anglico, Betsy, RobertP, Gregflynn and lcloud. Gordon Smith and klr are also members of the front page team, but are here less frequently and might not get your message.
Thanks for helping make BlueNC a great place to hang out, write, chat, learn and just plain have fun. Let us know if you have any problems accessing the calendar or have any other issues with the new site design.

Here are a few details I'm still working on.......
Robin Hayes lied. Nobody died, but thousands of folks lost their jobs.
One small suggestion
I keep clicking on the headlines for the three posts across the top and they don't link me to the post. I have to click on a link at the bottom of the post.
Very minor but since you're discussing changes I thought I'd tell you.
Overall, I like all the changes very much. Good job.
News of the 10th district: See Pat Go Bye Bye,
The block headlines won't be links
Yup...that's come up before. They are blocks and not nodes. No linky on the headlines.
Thanks for all your hard work in New Hampshire.

The new look
I love the new look and I certainly see the challenge. Good luck and best wishes. I check in several times a day but haven't commented lately. But I have to say, I've looked around and BlueNC is really just the best state blog out there.
Great job folks, just great.
