Breaking: Senate Democrats Defeat Cloture Vote

The Senate Democrats (minus Mary Landrieu, Ben Nelson, and Mark Pryor) defeated the Republicans' attempt to bring the debate on the FISA amendments to cloture. The Democrats were able to pull out this victory by a vote of 48 ayes to 45 nayes.

They are now proceeding to vote on a second cloture vote on whether to vote on a 30-day extension of the recent amendments to FISA.

This was a HUGE come-from-behind win

And of course, our two useless Senators could care less about civil liberties when it comes to terrorizing the American electorate.

The blogosphere has been in full-swarm, and it looks like it paid off. The sad thing is that elected officials have to be harangued into doing the right thing.

If we had Jim Neal in the US Senate, we wouldn't be worried about crap like this.

Thanks for posting this.
