Bryan Greene for US Congress (NC-District 10)

In order to allow the people of North Carolina's 10th District to have representation in the US Congress which will fight for principles and fight to restore the US Constitution to its past graduer, Bryan Greene (of Lenoir, NC) is running for US Congress to represent NC-District 10, as an Independent Candidate with the endorsement of the Constitution Party of NC. Currently District 10 is represented by Rep. Patrick McHenry, who has voted numerous times to abridge the US Citizen's freedom for so-called security, and who apparently ignores the US Constitution and continues to support the war in Iraq. Bryan Greene wants change, and wants to restore those freedoms and bring our troops home where they belong.

Though Bryan Greene is not affiliated with the Democratic Party, he has views which we are sure that the Democrats can agree with, and we hope that they can stand behind us in District 10 and support Bryan Greene's campaign. Mr. Greene believes that the US Constitution is the supreme law of the land, and that ALL laws must meet the criteria of the US Constitution. Those laws that do not meet those criteria should be repealed, such as the Real ID Act (which endangers American's privacy and establishes a national ID card), the USA Patriot Act (which defines nearly every American as a terrorist and allows warrantless searches for certain unreasonable cases) and the Miltary Commissions Act (which marked the end of our Republican form of government by the end of a garuntee to a trial by jury). He also believes as the founders did that that government which governs least, does govern best, therefore ours should be one of limited government reigned back by the bounds set by the US Constitution.

Bryan Greene strongly desires to end this unconstitutional war in Iraq and bring our troops home immediately, through a short phase out program (bring them all home in at least 6 months). Bryan believes that the liberties of the people are indispensable, and should never be abridged even in the eye of danger.

Yet, North Carolina's unconstitutional Ballot Access Laws restrict Bryan Greene for getting on the ballot on election day as easily as those in the two major parties. According to NC General Statutes Chapter 163-122, since Bryan Greene is running as an independent he must obtain signatures from 4% of the registered voters within District 10, that is about 17,000 signatures. We need all the help we can get both to get signatures, and to get Bryan's name out for we can have a true constitutionalist candidate on the ballot. Also, to run a successfull campaign financial donations are needed advertise his campaign across District 10. To help us obtain signatures you can either call us at (828) 729-4509 or visit our petition page at www.BryanGreene08.com/petition.html. For more information about Mr. Greene you can visit his campaign web site at www.BryanGreene08.com.

good luck!

I"m not a resident of District 10, so my signature won't help, and my funds are already committed to other candidates. However, I'm sure you'll find that there are not many friends of McHenry's on this site. I hope you stick around, and get Bryan to come by and answer questions.

check out Bryan's website

I don't think he's going to get a lot of Democratic votes. But Jordon responded to my not-very-kind post at Pat Go Bye Bye with respect. I encouraged him to post here. So, I'm impressed that he's keeping all conversational venues open, even though I don't respect some the candidate's stances.

If you don't want to follow the links, this is directly from his site:

  • Recognize the Unborn Childs' right to life and to deem that life begins from conception.
  • Illegalize abortion of any kind, because abortion for any reason is murder.
  • Ensure the individual's right to keep and bear arms without unconstitutional governmental restrictions.
  • Enforce current border security laws and prevent the government from granting amnesty to illegal aliens.
  • Bring our troops home, and end the unconstitutionally declared war in Iraq.
  • Encourage the US to re-adopt a non-interventionalist foreign policy as the founders demanded.
  • Attempt to help lower, and eventually, entirely abolish the income, estate and gift taxes.
  • Preserve the US Citizens' right to free speech and oppose all attempts to enact hate crime bills.

I don't know why forcing a woman to bear a baby whose birth might kill her wouldn't be considered murder by a law he wants to pass. And it seems obvious to me that we need more restrictions on gun ownership. The Virginia Tech deaths by someone clearly mentally unstable prove to me that the system needs to be tightened up.

But I like the non-interventionist policy. If we're not going to help in Darfur, we shouldn't be "helping" anywhere. Don't know about the tax ideas and I like hate crimes bills but free speech is a good thing, too.

At least he knew his audience with his initial post.

But Bryan Greene wouldn't get my vote either, even if I did live in the 10th.

Yes, after I read his website,

I certainly can see why you wouldn't be voting for him. Nor would I. However, he could certainly split off some of McHenry's base of supporters. That wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing.

Yeah, I'm all for the splitting of the fundamentalist

Christians and/or the conservatives.

Edit

Why is BlueNC on Blackberry so hard? Nothing ever posts right.

Because..

Blackberries are for republicons and they don't want you to read liberal propaganda.

Left on 49

Unfortunately, this statement:

He also believes as the founders did that that government which governs least, does govern best, therefore ours should be one of limited government reigned back by the bounds set by the US Constitution

.

is very similar to the declaration many conservatives make when they try to take away entitlement programs like Welfare, Medicaid, etc.

It's always about money

I never have seen a conservatives take away any corporate welfare. Maybe they have. I just haven't seen it. Reagan came in and spent so much money it took Clinton and Erskine Bowles how many years to clean up? And they didn't even thank them.

More specific platform issues

All teaching is related to basic assumptions about God and man. Education as a whole, therefore, cannot be separated from religious faith. The law of our Creator assigns the authority and responsibility of educating children to their parents. Education should be free from all federal government subsidies, including vouchers, tax incentives, and loans, except with respect to veterans.

Um, how is this not in direct defiance of the Constitution?

We call on our local, state and federal governments to uphold our cherished First Amendment right to free speech by vigorously enforcing our laws against obscenity to maintain a degree of separation between that which is truly speech and that which only seeks to distort and destroy.

No comment necessary.

God, who endows us with life, liberty, property, and the right to pursue happiness, also exhorts individuals to care for the needy, the sick, the homeless, the aged, and those who are otherwise unable to care for themselves.

America's welfare crisis is a government-induced crisis. Government social and cultural policies have undermined the work ethic, even as the government's economic and regulatory policies have undermined the ability of our citizens to obtain work.

Charity, and provision of welfare to those in need, is not a Constitutional responsibility of the federal government. Under no circumstances should the taxpayers of the United States be obligated, under penalty of law through forced taxation, to assume the cost of providing welfare for other citizens. Neither should taxpayers be indentured to subsidize welfare for persons who enter the United States illegally.

Gee, what a surprise.

Jordan, either you haven't got a clue as to the nature of progressive Democrats and their beliefs, or you do and are trying to sell us a pig in a poke. Either way, this:

Though Bryan Greene is not affiliated with the Democratic Party, he has views which we are sure that the Democrats can agree with, and we hope that they can stand behind us in District 10 and support Bryan Greene's campaign.

ain't gonna happen, pal.

Even if I do not agree with his positions

As many have pointed out, this candidate probably would not receive too many votes from us, but he should be on the ballot. We live in an increasing complex world; we need more than two voices to be engaged in this dialog.

Yes, he should be on the ballot

and for once, have the Nader effect work for the Democrats.

It's next to impossible for a 3rd party

candidate to get on the ballot in NC. That's unforunate. The debate could be so much larger and more colorful with more than just two voices (one in some cases)

And we do have to figure out what Republicans will be morphing into.

Have you called to support H. Res 333 Impeach Cheney Today? call 202-224-3121 & ask for your Congress member by name

It definitely should be easier

for independent candidates and third parties to get on the ballot.

Constitution party

Is a group that wants to restore the US back to the time of the founding fathers.

In other words, no taxes except tariffs and sales taxes, very weak federal government, no environmental or safety laws, no civil rights protections, and forget about central banks.

Haven't heard their opinion on slavery yet. But their devotion to the founders seems to lead to a logical conclusion.

The libertarians never seem to have much trouble getting on the ballot, it seems like. Maybe he could run as one of them. Sure would like to see a Dem in the race though so it's not down to choosing between two reactionaries.
