Cabarrus County Young Dems
After contacting the local party, and Ty and Zach from the YDNC, I've officially decided to attempt to start up a Cabarrus County chapter of Young Dems. Hopefully, this will help raise awareness and provide the younger demographic with a good outlet for democratic awareness and effort.
After volunteering with the local party since 2004, I always admired the help and turnout we'd get from the older folks, and I was always mad that we didn't have a group for younger folks to organize and achieve. As of right now, things are still in the works as far as a first meeting time/date. The way chartering works under the YDNC, we must have 5+ members, and hold open elections for officers. I've gotten a fair amount of response via a Facebook group, and I've even taken the steps of registering a website. Hopefully via those means, as well as trusty old BlueNC.com, we'll be able to get a great response and turnout before the full swing of 2008 madness ensues.
If anyone has any friends or family within Cabarrus County that might be interested in this wonderful group for Dems under 35, please let both them AND ME know. From what I've read, We have 10 days from the time of officially organizing and meeting to file. I'm waiting on all the paperwork from Ty, and hopefully by then we'll have our first meeting time and place. Can't we open the office more than once a week?!?!. I'm free from 1pm-4pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays until I graduate mid-December. Either way, as we set stuff up, odds are I'll just come flying in the hour before work on Wednesday mornings as usual with updates and stuff we might need officially signed.
