Call 919-683-1111 and ask if they are going to be airing the Path to 9/11. Tell them you will be putting a parental block on ABC until they pull the show or forever if they don't.

I don't know if you have been following the controversy over the Path to 9/11. If not, here is a short description.

ABC won't give President Clinton, Madeleine Albright or Sandy Berger a copy of its 9/11 docudrama, "The Path to 9/11." But there is virtually nothing about the film ABC won't share with the right-wing blogosphere.

For example, an ABC insider sent this missive to right-wing blogger Hugh Hewitt about potential edits to the film:

The Disney execs met all through the weekend - unheard of in this business - debating what changes would be made and what concessions should be given. Here is what looks to be the conclusion:

- There will be a handful of tweaks made to a few scenes.
- They are minor, and nuance in most cases - a line lift here, a tweak to the edit there.
- There are 900 screeners out there. When this airs this weekend, there will be a number of people who will spend their free evenings looking for these changes and will be hard pressed to identify them. They are that minor.
- The average viewer would not be able to tell the difference between the two versions.
- The message of the Clinton Admin failures remains fully intact.

Disney/ABC has a long track record of catering to the most extreme right-wing factions in the United States.

Disney/ABC cancelled the reality show featuring a gay couple, "Welcome To The Neighborhood," ten days before it was to air when James Dobson and the religious right threatened to withdraw their support for the conservative classic "Narnia."

Disney refused to allow its subsidiary Miramax, which specialized in controversial fare, to distribute "Fahrenheit 9/11" allegedly because they felt it was too political.

They made a deal with Mel Gibson, beloved on the religious right for his film "The Passion," to produce a film about the Holocaust even though they knew at the time he held extremely controversial views about the Holocaust and Judaism. They only cancelled the project when he was caught by the police drunkenly saying "all the wars in the world are caused by the Jews."

Call the local ABC affiliate (919-683-1111) and ask if they are going to air the program. Tell them that you have placed a parental block on all ABC stations and will not take it off until the show is cancelled or forever if it is not.

With the receptionist at WCTI-12 in New Bern. The Programming Manager was not available, so I asked that the receptionist leave a message that I have turned off (via parental control) that channel and will leave it turned off unless the station does not broadcast the program "The Path to 9/11".

I also left my name and telephone number in such instance (which I doubt) that the program manager would want to contact me.

I will say that the receptionist was quite polite while I described the reasons that I've turned off the station.

Points to consider from the Center for American Progress:

MEDIA -- ABC REFUSES TO PROVIDE COPIES OF BIASED 9/11 MINISERIES TO CLINTON,BERGER, ALBRIGHT:
ABC has been aggressively advancing its inaccurate and politically slanted miniseries, "The Path to 9/11," to the right wing. Rush Limbaugh has been provided an advanced copy of the film, as have obscure right-wing bloggers like Patterico.
But ABC has refused to provide a copy to President Clinton.
Former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright and former National Security Adviser Samuel Berger have also requested copies of the film from ABC, but both have been denied. Berger and Albright are harshly criticized in the film in scenes that, according to former counterterrorism czar Richard Clarke, are "180 degrees from what happened." In her letter to Disney President and CEO Robert Iger, Albright writes, "While I have requested a copy of the broadcast, I have yet to receive one. I have been informed by some who had been given the right to view the broadcast that the drama...asserts as fact things that are not fact."
In addition to advance screenings, an unnamed ABC official provided right-wing blogger Hugh Hewitt with details about potential edits to the miniseries, including the note that "The message of the Clinton Admin failures remains fully intact."

I have not personally seen the movie, as have very few people. The movie has been screened by several people that have publicly said that the facts presented are misrepresentations (if not outright fallacies) of actual events.

Bruce Lindsey, attorney to President Bill Clinton has written a letter to ABC official Bob Iger. The following is from that letter (referenced in the New York Daily Post and linked at this URL : http://www.nypost.com/news/nationalnews/bubba_goes_ballistic_on_abc_abou...).

“-- The drama leads viewers to believe that National Security Advisor Sandy Berger told the CIA that he would not authorize them to take a shot at bin Laden. This is complete fiction and the event portrayed never happened.”

Even ABC’s counter-terror consultant has stated that movie is factually incorrect in several places.

Also from the Mr. Lindsey’s letter:
“1) No US military or CIA personnel were on the ground in Afghanistan and saw bin Laden;
2) The head of the Northern Alliance, Masood, was nowhere near the alleged bin Laden camp and did not see bin Laden; and
3) CIA Director Tenet said that he could not recommend a strike on the camp because the information was single-sourced and there would be no way to know if bin Laden was in the target area by the time a cruise missile hit it.

As Clarke and others will corroborate, President Clinton did in fact approve of a standing plan to use Afghans who worked for the CIA to capture bin Laden.”

The movie implies that then-Secretary of State Albright denied to allow military strikes without notifying the Pakistani government.

From Mr. Lindsey’s letter:

“-- The drama claims that former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright refused to sanction a missile strike against bin Laden without first alerting the Pakistanis and notified them over the objections of the military.”

The movie also uses editing techniques to paint the Clinton administration as too worried about impeachment to be concerned with the terror threat. This is not true.

Again, from Mr. Lindsey’s letter:

“-- Using newsreel footage of President Clinton, the drama insinuates that President Clinton was too pre-occupied with the impeachment and the Lewinsky matter to be engaged in pursuing bin Laden. This allegation is absurd and was directly refuted by ABC News consultant Richard Clarke in his book, Against All Enemies: “Clinton made clear that we were to give him our best national security advice without regard to his personal problems.

The movie “based on the 9/11 report” many of the above claims directly conflict with the written report. It is clearly a political move to paint Democrats as “weak on terror” and inattentive to national security issues. That the program will be broadcast less than 60 days to the mid-term election, which many pundits describe as possibly being the end of a Republican majority in Congress, is quite convenient for the political party in power.

In addition to the outright fallacies, ABC has refused to allow many Democrats (including President Clinton and Secretary of State Albright) copies of the program, but have provided copies to conservative pundits such as Rush Limbaugh and even a conservative blogger called Patico. Additionally, ABC officials have passed the message that the “Clinton admin failures remains fully intact.”

Again, I am highly disappointed in ABC’s decision to misrepresent the events of September 11th, 2001 and, as an American, ashamed that other Americans would use a program advertised as a “docu-drama” to play partisan politics. I have no recourse than to boycott ABC programming as well as that of ABCs parent company, Disney and all subsidiary companies, such as ESPN, ESPN Radio, E! and Lifetime Entertainment Services. This also includes your television station and any commercial corporations that advertise on your station.

At the beginning of every show saying its fictional.

And that they've had that plan in place since mid August. I think ABC has done a horrible job of getting that out to people, after they promoted it as truth.

Should be interesting to see how much futher they cave.

Our children need to know that some people fought back, when others collaborated.

The gentlemen left a message (I don't have good phone reception in my office) that basically said "It's out of our hands, ABC controls the programming." and left the contact information for the ABC regional director fellow in NYC.
