Calling the 'Least Among Us' to Be a "Big Shot" for Democracy!

It's just a little over 500 days until the November 2008 elections and, contrary to my youngest daughter's opinion, I believe the Internet serves a greater purpose that dressing and redressing a Zwinky doll.

I know first-hand the power of the Netroots, and considering the attention we've received lately from the power-brokers in DC, I'd say they're starting to realize it too. But as I reflect this Sunday morning before church, scanning the news and political blogs, thinking about both the dire straits that politics as usual have led this nation and how blessed my common sense campaign for the heart and soul of Congress has been to have the support of all of you, I've decided we need to go to the next level.

I want YOU to be the new power-brokers in our Democracy.

If you know anything at all about my continuing campaign for North Carolina's 8th, you know we do things differently down here. We never give up, we rely on special people, not special interests, and we run things our way - always positive, always pivotal and always for the people. And that's why after the closest race in the nation last year, missing the mark by just 330 votes, we will ultimately prevail if you stick with me. Here's how you can...

Luke 9:48 "...for the one who is least among all of you, this is the one who is great."

Although my campaign for the people will never change, what has changed is when I call rich folks these days, even as a school teacher from a very poor district, they now take my calls. I've been pleasantly surprised the politicos, policy wonks and king makers one must deal with to make a serious run for Congress are taking my calls these days too. In fact, they call me now as I'm sure they have you if you've ever made a substantial contribution to a Democratic candidate or the national party. But if you're like most of my rowdy netroots friends, you have not made anywhere near that top tier of folks that shape opinion or get phone calls from Presidential candidates to discuss foreign policy over coffee before an Iowa caucus because you are hard working folks that simply believe in doing what's right and giving whatever contributions of money, time and talent you can afford.

That's honestly what makes you my kind of people, and why I am where I am in the polls, because you sustained my campaign when no one else would.

Matthew 5:5 "Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth."

Netfolks, the "inner circle" is open. I may never run the kind of campaign political professionals in DC want, but I promise you I will run the kind of campaign that will win... I just need to hear from you to do so.

Rep. Chris Van Hollen, new Chair of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, has agreed to host a conference call this week discussing our pivotal race with my pollster from Anzalone-Liszt Research and whatever "big money" donors I decide to invite. As you might have expected, I'm actually inviting all the hard working Democratic county chairs and officers from my district and a group of "big money" donors previously unheard of in modern politics...

YOU.

Space is limited, so please understand that a little over 500 days from the election, I'm asking for recurring small donors willing to go to my ActBlue page and commit about a dollar a day to this campaign by signing up for a recurring donation of $33.30 a month for the next 16 months. Join me by Monday at noon and you'll not only get the information to join our conference call with DCCC Chair Chris Van Hollen and my pollster, but continuing insider news, a leadership position in this campaign, the offical status of Democratic "big shot" and my undying gratitude.

Just imagine a hundred or more common folks like yourself putting those small voices together to make a booming one that can't be denied by anyone, and I do mean anyone. That's equivalent to $3,330 a month to cover on-going expenses, bills and web fees that this campaign would never have to worry about again as we set about the difficult task of Taking Our Country Back from the special interests currently running this nation. Please become one of the many thousands of truly special people to this campaign for common sense by joining us now!

Just the fact that it's a difficult commitment to make to Democracy makes it all the more special that you'd be willing to join my inner circle. I'm hoping to hear from Teachers, Mill Workers, Nurses, Doctors, Dock Workers, Cops, Construction Workers, Military Families, Senior Citizens... (maybe even a Lawyer or two), who never even considered giving $500 or more to a campaign before, but know now that they can and be appreciated and heard!

Join me now! I give you my word I'll work hard to make you proud.

A Dollar a Day Folks...

That certainly makes you a "Big Shot" in my book. If there's any way you can join us, please make sure ActBlue has all your contact information so we can include you in the conference call this week. I need you in my inner circle.

Hope everyone has a GREAT Father's Day today. I know my girls are ready to get started on ours. If I have time, I'll try to cross-post over at DailyKos. Please recommend. Thanks so much!!!

Someone Working...For a Change

Larry, I will seriously consider this.

If I were in a different place economically, I would max out right now.

One man with courage makes a majority.

Ha!

I know you would Robert. As would many that want, no need, to see a real change in the 8th, but can afford to give least of all. That's why I really appreciate the consideration. It means so much just knowing the situation folks are in today.

Please Recommend at KOS

Thanks guys!

Happy Father's Day!!!

What about

your top fundraisers on ActBlue? Can we be on the call ;-)

1 Thessalonians 5:21: But examine everything carefully; hold fast to that which is good.

Deployed that Day

Larry, I never told you that my son-in-law deployed to the middle east on election day last year. In fact, when my daughter told me that he was leaving again and the date I said, "Oh, no. That's election day." I'm not proud of that remark. I told him the he HAD to vote before he left and he went early in the morning and voted or there would have been a 331 vote difference. :-)

You can be proud of that remark

In the back of your mind you were thinking we had to get Democrats elected so your s-i-l would come home from Iraq more quickly.

Robin Hayes lied. Nobody died, but thousands of folks lost their jobs.

Inspiring

Larry, it's so inspiring and refreshing to find someone who truly wants to represent ALL the people; not the few, some, or most - but everyone. Thank you.

You can't make everyone happy all the time but when you endeavor to do right for most of the people all the time - it works.
