Charles Taylor Running His Campaign In the Wrong District!!!

The dirty campaign ads on tv and radio weren't enough, I guess, so here come the dirty campaign fliers!!!

I'm sure at least fifty-thousand of these have already been sent out all over WNC, so if anyone has seen this already I apologize for the redundancy. Someone sent this to me earlier this morning, and I had to share (click the thumbnails to enlarge):

So, yeah, nothing new here. Literally. Charles Taylor, unable to actually run a campaign on real issues, is apparently unable to find any new non-issues to criticize Heath Shuler for, so he's rehashing the non-voting thing. I won't be getting into what a waste of time this is, because that would stray from the point I wanted to make. If you look closely at the address label, and consult a state districting map, you'll notice something kind of odd. I blew the address label (address blurred by request) up by a few percentage points, and:

According to Wikipedia:
Newland is a town in Avery County, North Carolina, United States. The population was 704 at the 2000 census. It is the county seat of Avery County

Avery County is in the 10th Congressional District!!!!

I am completely convinced right now that the Taylor re-election campaign has become a complete comedy of errors. First they have automated message systems calling homes in the 11th District past their kids' bed-times and waking them up, now they're trying to run a smear campaign IN THE WRONG DAMN DISTRICT!!! If you're one of the saps who actually donated money to Taylor for Congress, you might want to drop them a line and ask them what part of your generous contribution went toward sending fliers to the wrong district.

If this were one of those 4-foot-long full-color glossy "official newsletters", this would be a serious and illegal problem. In this case, it's just plain stupid.

I dunno... I thought this was good for a nice, hearty CHUCKle.

Warning: "I hope your children die in your arms tonight" is one of the more printable quotes.

You know him?

All I can say is I believe barking dogs don't bite. But does he happen to own any guns?

He lives in Candler. His last name is Slappey.

I'd say that he owns a gun or two,

I don't know the guy, but you gotta love a guy named Slappey.

I missed this

I was gone most of the day doing the soccer mom thing.

We have candidates who put signs way outside their district. I always enjoy laughing at them. It is such a huge waste of time and money and those are the signs that never get picked back up and wind up littering the roadsides for months.

Chuck is a jerk and he's wizzzzing in his knickers after that last poll.

Charlotte Mayor Pat McCrory says he wants to change the culture in Raleigh. I guess that's why he wrote this letter to PAC lobbyists asking for their fundraising help. Change you can believe in? Riiiiiiight. Join the conversation here.
