Class Action Suit Against Veterans Affairs

The NC Veterans Caucus sent this to me and asked that I post it...

As many of you know Veterans United For Truth and Veterans for Common Sense have filed a class action lawsuit against the Veterans Administration

In the Veterans for Common Sense and Veterans United for Truth v. U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Class Action Lawsuit. They are challenging the VA's failure to provide prompt mental health care to Veterans with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and VA’s failure to promptly and accurately process disability compensation claims for PTSD.The week of March 3, the judge held a hearing about the quality and timeliness of mental health care given to suicidal veterans. After four days of testimony, the judge ordered a full trial on all issues of concern to start on April 21, 2008. This is a very short timeline, and hope is that this means the judge will reach a final decision in the next few months.In order for VCS attorneys to put forward their strongest case, they will need your help in the next few days. Federal attorneys for VA have challenged the right of VCS and Veterans United for Truth to sue VA as groups. [I believe that means representing Veterans]. VCS & VUFT needs our Veteran members to contact the people below if you have either of these two problems:

1. You were diagnosed with PTSD but are experiencing problems getting timely VA mental health care for your PTSD or for potential suicide. [Lawyer/Client Confidentiality will be respected].

2. You filed a VA claim for PTSD and have problems getting your PTSD disability compensation claim approved by VA. [Such may be the case for those diagnosed with Personality Disorder or some other mental health problem downplaying your PTSD symptoms].

If you are a veteran who would be covered in the suit Please contact me asap. Or if you are a veteran or friend of veterans you can simply join VUFT

The VA IS TRYIN TO KILL THE SUIT AND WE NEED MORE VETS TO COME FORWARD.
