One cool thing about BlueNC is the fact that lots of people send us lots of interesting stuff by anonymous email. Much of it never sees the light of day, either because we can't validate the claims, or because it's too obscene to report.

This week I got reports from people who said they attended the recent Civitas meeting in Raleigh. - which may very well qualify for the latter. And being someone who wouldn't set foot in a Civitas event, even under the threat of bodily harm, I can't vouch for the comments. If any of our readers were there, I'd love to hear if this stuff rings true.

1. John Davis apparently had a lot to say. He didn't seem to think that the Party of Torture and Greed will do very well in either NC House this November.

2. Most of the Republicans participating in the Civitas Coven of Crazies seemed depressed by the prospect of not being able to take power and crush government out of existence.

3. Second-string Puppet Jack Hawke pretty much called GOP idiots. (Guess he was looking in a mirror.)

4. Everyone wanted to know if Patrick McHenry is really gay.

5. The Opportunist Ambulance Chaser from Salisbury is running for Governor for sure.

6. The King of Asphalt, Fredly Smith, isn't happy about it.

7. The Stagemanager said blogs are starting to change the political environment. (No shit, John.)

8. The Hairdresser is going to get his butt kicked by Galloway, thereby flushing many Puppetmaster dollars down the crapper.

Is this all they had to talk about? Man-oh-man. I would have gotten the hives if I'd been forced to sit in a room full of hypocrites whining about how oppressed they are. For folks who want to destroy every shred of excellence in public service, the Puppets sure do looooooooove getting elected to cushy jobs in gummint.

To my knowledge.

This could all be a bunch of bulloney, which is what you'd expect from a meeting of the lunatics from the right wing fringe.

Damn Man! We got to stop the people right now!!!!!

Like take away your vote for judical candiates because democracy does not work.

Rep. Skip Stam said, "The only unqualified appellate judge candiate

running this time is XXXXX XXXXX. If she either wins or comes

close, it might finally frighten the assembly into doing something

reasonable.”

L.P. Hornthal Jr., a former Bar Association president and an

Elizabeth City Democrat, "The fact that a sitting justice on the N.C.

Supreme Court who is well-qualified has to take valuable time away

from duties of his office to run for reelection against someone as

lacking in qualifications as XXXXX XXXXXX is reason enough for us to

scrap the popular election of judges."

That's as may be. . . .

But this...

"8. The Hairdresser is going to get his butt kicked by Galloway, thereby flushing many Puppetmaster dollars down the crapper."

Made me smile. Alot. Because it's true. No I wasn't at the Civitas meeting. I just live here, and ...whoo hooo! It's on.

The Hairdresser....

what a smarmy, sleezeball. Wrote an article about him at my blog, would love a comment of two there too, if the mood hits ya! LCloud is right, at the last debate, he didn't go over very well with the crowd at 7Lakes, a gated community just north of Pinehurst.

No matter that patriotism is too often the refuge of scoundrels. Dissent, rebellion, and all-around hell-raising remain the true duty of patriots.

Well, OF COURSE

I was there. Let me see if I can adjust the reports as best as I can, while being fair and unbiased (as much as possible).

1. Pretty much accurate. Davis showed just how many seats the GOP needs to "reclaim" the G.A. Most people I talk with do not think it will happen, even though they wish it would.

2. There is a spirit of discouragement. I cannot vouch for everyone's motives, though.

3. Sadly, he was looking at the audience. And, yes, he castigated those politicos in attendence for not addressing issues.

4. Don't remember that ever being mentioned.

5. Actually, he is being referred to as the GOP's John Edwards, so I suppose your moniker is apt. But as for running for governor "for sure," I do not remember that being mentioned.

6. Fred Smith's desire to run for governor WAS mentioned, by John Davis. Davis also said that Smith was not spreading his campaign money around because he was saving it for the run for Raleigh.

7. I did not see Hood there. In fact, I have never seen Hood at one of Civitas' poll luncheons.

8. That must have been discussed at his table. I sat near him, but did/do not talk to him.

Aw come on

You know really deep down inside, in a place most right wingnut evangelicals do their best to ignore - there's this deep overwhelming desire to know about Patrick McHenry's sex life. heh heh :)

OK...all joking aside...thank you for the unbiased, eye-witness account.

Graham has hitched his wagon to the wrong cause. Sadly, he doesn't even understand how the budget works. That has been made all too clear, but I don't have the time to go into specifics right now. I'll just keep my powder dry on that.

No need to break the poweder out yet,

I agree with you about Graham. I do not think he has any greater chance at winning the gubernatorial race then did Ballantine.

But, hey, '08 is an eternity away (in political years). Who knows what will happen between now and then.

Thanks, Token.

Much appreciated.

I'm still trying to figure you out.

You seem thoughtful and intelligent. So, you can't be a Republican. : )

So, I guess you are one of those Eisenhower Republicans that went along for the ride and have now awoken to find yourself on some dark deserted highway with Bad Moon Rising playing on the radio and George Bush sitting next to you saying "Wanna see something really scary?"

Blame Game

Just had to link to this graphic on the Conservative Blame Game going on right now. Part of an article in today's NY Times

“It is one of those rare defeats that will have many fathers,” said David Keene, chairman of the American Conservative Union, expressing the gloomy view of many conservatives about the outcome on Election Day. “And they will all be somebody else.”

TrueMeckDem on Myers Park Pat

"My opinion of Pat has changed over the years. I used to think he was truly a man of the people but the longer he has been mayor, the less I think of him.

As with most cities, Charlotte has three political parties: Dem, Rep, and Chamber of Commerce. Pat is definitely the puppet of the COC here. What is good for business is good for Charlotte and Pat ... very personable guy, he has gotten a bunch of Dems in these parts to vote for him but I don't trust him."
