James Dobson Focuses on Rescuing Taylor's Political Soul

Photobucket - Video and Image HostingDr. James Dobson, having playing one-eyed Mullah Omar to the Bush administration, is riding his pale horse into the election here in NC-11. In today's latest glossy mailing, Dr. Dobson writes, "Two years ago, I strongly endorsed Congressman Charles H. Taylor for re-election to the U.S. House of Representatives. I am doing so again this year, and I hope you will join me in supporting him."

This is same Dr. Dobson who last year said,

"I heard a minister the other day talking about the great injustice and evil of the men in white robes, the Ku Klux Klan, that roamed the country in the South, and they did great wrong to civil rights and to morality. And now we have black-robed men, and that's what you're talking about."

Photobucket - Video and Image HostingToday's glossy mailing tries to cast doubt on Heath Shuler's pro-life stance by suggesting that "Shuler's campaign has received significant financial support from groups that are strongly opposed to our pro-family perspective."

This is the same Dr. Dobson who compared stem-cell research to Nazi concentration camps,

"In World War II, the Nazis experimented on human beings in horrible ways in the concentration camps, and I imagine, if you wanted to take the time to read about it, there would have been some discoveries there that benefited mankind."

Dobson's vast Focus on the Family empire has been busily trying to theocratize government for a decade now, which makes his final paragraph's assertion seem strange, "I am sending this letter as an individual, and not as a representative of the organizations I lead." The fact that FotF's non-profit status disallows him from using the group to directly endorse a candidate explains the legalistic hokey-pokey, and the 19 local pastors (including J. Wendell "Debate is the Greatest Sin" Runion) whose signatures grace the other side of the mailer don't mention their home churches or organizations either. Like Taylor, they wiggle around, skirting the law while meaning to break it.

Photobucket - Video and Image HostingA naked attempt to move religious people to overlook Charles Taylor's 16 year record of ethical misconduct, Dobson's mailer, paid for by "Charles Taylor for Congress Committee", is another screed from the man who compares our Supreme Court to the Ku Klux Klan and compares our doctors to Nazis when not frothing at the mouth about Spongebob Squarepants' sexual orientation. He would have good Christians look past Taylor's lying and greed in order to maintain his own hold on power.

It stinks of lunatic desperation in the same way Taylor's entire sulphurous campaign has emanated a wafting stench of manure-slinging, power-crazed politics. Fortunately for us, western North Carolina voters don't have to keep their boots in Taylor's excrement. We can march into an era of honest governance behind Democrat Heath Shuler.

run down

so we have in one corner:
an honest man, a family man, a man who does no campaigning on sundays, a man who believes in protecting those who cannot protect themselves

in the other corner:
a man who uses political power for his own personal gain, a liar, a crook, a man who uses his opponents religion to discredit him, a man who believes in pure greed

quick, which is the republican and which is the christian?
time is running out!
that was easy wasnt it?

Vote Schuler.

Very niiiiice.

Dobsons fax is 719-531-3424

if anyone wants to send him a love note at his headquarters. I plan a short, sassy epistle.
