Conservative my @$$

Freedom Fries Jones sent me an email today bragging on how he's signed on to a conservative economic stimulus plan that screws regular people who do real work - again - while rewarding fat-cat investors. I wonder how long the constituents in the 3rd district will stand by and let this fool trample their interests.
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Third District Representative Walter B. Jones (R-NC) has joined Rep. Scott Garrett (R-NJ) and other conservative colleagues in sponsoring H.R. 5109, the Economic Growth Act of 2008. The bill is an economic stimulus package which promotes job preservation and creation, long-term economic growth and a lower tax burden.
“With an emphasis on America’s small businesses, this legislation outlines an economic stimulus package to jump start our nation’s economy,” Congressman Jones said. “Protecting America’s jobs by ensuring that job creators face a lower tax and regulatory burden is a taxpayer-friendly approach to reinvigorating the economy and spurring long-term economic growth.”
This is nothing but corporate double talk bought and paid for by people like Art Pope, whose many-ringed circuses have endorsed the plan.
Provisions of the Economic Growth Act of 2008 would:
- allow businesses to immediately deduct the purchase of assets from their tax returns, rather than over a long period of time;- reduce the corporate tax rate from 35% to 25%;
- index the capital gains tax rate for inflation; and
- allow corporations as well as individuals to benefit from the capital gains tax rate of 15%.
Any port in a storm, heh Walter? The world economy is going to hell because of Republican Party incompetence and all you can do is scramble to reward investors instead of people who do real work.
Thank God Walter Jones is not in charge of anything.
