Absence makes the fart go Honda...(a change of pace)

Actually this was the punch line from a long ago joke diagnosing the problem of a beleaguered Toyota Salesperson with a unique sales-debilitating flatulence problem....But, absence from the gas pump is making my heart go Honda.

After driving my Jeep and enjoying everything about it but the bill at the gas pump, I decided to start looking at cars that would give better mileage. I looked at a bunch and although several would have been fine, The Honda Civic Hybrid seemed the best to me. Superb safety (5 star) rating, not squirrelly looking, comfortable, fun to drive...and amaaaazing gas mileage. Good warranty too.

Powered by both electric and gas engines, the Honda has a new CV (Continuously Variable) transmission that is smooth as silk, and when you pull up to a stop sign or stop in traffic the gas engine goes off. The battery runs everything. Take your foot off the brake and the engine seamlessly and quietly is running again.. You wouldn't know it if someone didn't tell you.

Drove 262 miles...filled up with 5.6 gallons.

$1050 Tax credit available till end of March...then $525 for 90 days then...gone.

I know this isn't about politics...but right now I'm up to my eyeballs in politics and thought some other topic might interest you too....and it is PROGRESSIVE because it has damn near zero emissions.

Anyway...back to Iowa....and Happy New Year to all.
(I'm working on the letters, Robert...:-)

Keep us posted on the car

We'll be buying a new car this summer and I'm just starting to do research.

We just bought a Honda

....but not a very progressive one. This was my Christmas present. It's my newest gardening tool......don't ask. :)

looked at a Prius?

We bought a new Prius last May and it's the best car I've ever driven.
It's very comfortable and very roomy. It might not look it from the outside but it has definitely as much room if not more as any other midsize sedan.
It has more interior room than the old Mazda Protege we have.
I consistently get 50 MPG.
From what i remember from my research it gets better mileage than the Honda and it's cheaper too.
We got a tax reduction of $750, I'm not sure if there still is one now.
Consumer reports rates the Prius a lot better than the Honda and the Prius has the best rating when it comes to customer satisfaction.

The Prius is exactly the same. Kinda freaks you out the first couple of weeks when the engine shuts off at a traffic light, you think your car just broke down.

By the way, I don't work for Toyota or anything, just wanted to give you some information.
