Our pals at over at the Dome have reviewed the DSCC's ad now airing that call's Elizabeth Dole the 93rd least effective senator. Is it accurate?
Is the ad accurate? Yes, though even a senator with a higher ranking would have trouble fixing immigration or lowering gas prices on her own.
There are a lot of caveats. Legion of Dome
So to find that Republicans with less experience than she has - even our own Richard Burr rank more highly than she does, is not a surprise. She has been a Bush mouthpiece her entire term, has been an absentee Senator who doesn't know or care about the constituents she represents, and has no intention of changing her ways.
Here's the ad in question, in case you haven't seen it:
The question we face in North Carolina is multi-faceted. It's not just
"Do we want change in the White House?"
But similarly -
Do we want change in Washington?
A vote for Dole will not get us closer to change in Washington. With a Democratic White House, she not only be an absentee Senator, in-name-only North Carolinian, she will be an obstructionist Senator, unwilling even to listen or cooperate with her fellows across the aisle. She has got to go. Visit A Third Bush Term to find out how you can help rid NC of this meddlesome outsider and put a real North Carolinian in the Senate.
When you vote this fall, vote for Kay Hagan for US Senate - a Democrat who knows how government works, knows how to cooperate and play well with others, and has actually lived in North Carolina for a long time. As a state senator, Kay actually has a unique understanding of the challenges facing NC that Dole, as a resident of the Watergate Hotel, does not have.

I see nit, I pick nit
Er, the 93rd least effective Senator would be the 7th most effective Senator.
