A few weeks ago, you may have come across this snippet in a Kos diary by bajadudes about Chris 'Chameleon' Mintz running for office in Raleigh as a Democrat.

And it's where the term Bunkeycrat comes from. It specifically refers to Bunky Morgan and that whole sad saga. Bunkey a rich Republican carwash owner ran as a Dem for a Chatham County Board of Commissioners seat held by actual Democrat and Commissioners Chair Gary Phillips. Bob Geary from the Independent put it best this way...."Bunkey thus knocked Phillips out of office and paved the way (I think that's the right term) for the developers to take control in Chatham."

But it's not just developers who Bunkey (no nicknames required) wants to take over Chatham County. It's also Jesus Christ.

On April 10, the ACLU of North Carolina sent a letter to Morgan asking the board to "stop the practice of using sectarian invocations at Chatham County commissioners meetings." In addition to the letter to Morgan, the ACLU sent letters to the Pittsboro Board of Commissioners, Clayton Town Council and Raleigh City Council, which the newspaper reported also invoked Christ's name at their meetings. Though prayer at government meetings is allowed, the 4th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals has ruled that sectarian prayers are unconstitutional.

In their discussion about the letter at a meeting Monday, the Chatham commissioners were indignant. "No man is going to tell me how to pray," Morgan said.

Morgan also criticized the timing of the ACLU request. "Your letter addressed to me was received Easter weekend, what a coincidence," he wrote in the first line of his letter.

This pretty much sums it all up. Theocrats like Bunkey Morgan love to get all indignant - especially when they're the ones breaking the law.

I don't know what's going on in Chatham County these days, but I sure hope the voters there find a way to hand Mr. Morgan his god-forsaken head. If any of our Chatham readers know more about this, please chime in.

Some people weren't meant to

ever be the face of Christianity....that reminds me of something...be right back.

Vote Democratic! The ass you save may be your own.
