Dan Besse endorses Barack Obama

And for all the right reasons.

Besse and Obama have been simpatico since 2003 when both stood in public opposition, each in his own state, to the Bush administration's War in Iraq.

Dan was the author and sponsor of the North Carolina Democratic Party's resolution opposing the war. The NC state party was the first in the nation to issue such a resolution.

Now, Dan becomes one of the first Democratic candidates for state office to endorse Senator Obama for the Democratic presidential nomination.

Besse and Obama: preemptively courageous!

Way to go Dan!

Nice summary there, Frank.

Though the "for all the right reasons" phrasing brings to mind that toyota salesman making his fluffy dog wave to the cameras. And now I'm going to have that ad on my mind for the rest of the evening.

and Besse's ad itself is superb

Very nice, very well done. Excellent candidate and excellent presentation.

Dan is getting good at this!

Here's a leader who holds communication at a premium, a communicator who is hitting his stride, a reputable man of action who has found his voice.

It would be nice to see a new background for these video shoots, though. Maybe, I don't know...the interior of the Lt. Governor's office?

What about the Lt. Governor's mansion?

I don't know the status of the building, but it is called the Lt. Governor's Mansion.

I know that Bev doesn't live there, is there any official work done there?

Interesting...

I saw that when I was at the Governor's Mansion the other day. I think it's labelled the office of Lt. Gov. I remember hearing that there's that office, the one in the Capitol, and one other office available for the Lt. Gov.'s use...

Great Ad

Great endorsement.

right on Iraq, right on energy, right on the environment.

Who could ask for anything more?

So, the pro-Obama candidates are:

Jim Neal - US Senate
Dan Besse - Lt. Governor

I believe that Dellinger is having an event with Clinton.

Anyone else come out for a single candidate?

not true

Robert,

Statements like this are easy enough to confirm before they are made. Dellinger has no such event scheduled.

However, our volunteer-based campaign is taking advantage of all of the Clinton and Obama events, since each has hundreds of good democrats waiting in line for hours to get in. They are great opportunities for our volunteers to get the word out about why Hampton will be a great lieut gov.

Hampton has told me and anyone who asks that he looks forward to working with a Democratic President and thinks either is far superior to Bush or McCain. But he intends to vote for Obama.

Knowing his family's history with the Clintons, I hope you understand what a tough call that is.

I got an email saying he was doing something at a Clinton event.

I haven't gotten one about an Obama event, doesn't mean it wasn't sent, I just didn't get it. I looked all over the Hampton site for the email I received, but I can't find it and I don't have a copy. If you want to post it for clarification that would be appreciated. I remember him saying people should come to a Hillary Clinton event and he would be there. Is that wrong?

Either way, what you say makes NC elected officials in almost complete unanimity for Obama.

no i think you might

have gotten one of the "go out and meet people at this event" emails.

FWIW, those are sent for a variety of events. If more than two Democrats are gathered, our goal is to make sure that, (in addition to one of them being Chief Justice Sarah Parker), another one is somebody who supports Hampton.

My problem with your post is the implication that Dellinger has endorsed Clinton, which he certainly has not.

But she is a Democrat, you know, and a lot of good Democrats support her for President.

Hampton endorses/supports Obama.

Just to be clear.

As do I

but I hope we can all unite behind our nominee, eventually. I hope and will work to make that Obama, but I do not join the "I won't vote for the other person" crowd.

I don't have a candidate in that race anymore.

I'll support the person the American People choose, all the American people.
