Day 97

The last few days have brought despair. I feel like I'm witnessing the saddest show in history, an epic tragedy unspooling before our eyes.

Decisions ordinarily made in collaboration have become permanent pissing contests. Open this. Close that. Fuck you. No lives matter.

Who wouldn't like to see some gyms and bars open? I'd gladly go along IF they commit to distancing and wearing masks. But they won't . Masks infringe on their rights to spread infection. And besides, the infection's not that bad. Barely 150,000 dead. Not enough people to justify stifling the economy.

__________

I think reasonable restrictions are in order. I'd want something like this.

"EVERYTHING WILL BE OPEN AS LONG AS EVERYONE PRACTICES DISTANCING AND WEARS A MASK WHEN CLOSE TO OTHER PEOPLE. EVERYONE MEANS EVERYONE."

Not going to happen of course. We're a country of toddlers with partisan bullshit calling the shots. You're not the boss of me.

Phil Berger, Tim Moore, and Dan Forest are willing to do anything to get political advantage and stick it to Democrats. They don't care if people get sick and die. Life's not fair. Tough shit. Masks suck. Vote Republican.

We're in the midst of a growing pandemic, and we can't even agree that reasonable precautions are appropriate. Our system of government is failing.
