NC-08: "Most troops will be home by 2008"

Sadly, we all know the tragic milestone of U.S. deaths in Iraq.

As I think about the honorable sacrifices of our military families today, I'd be remiss to not remind you all why my opponent, Republican Robin Hayes, must be retired.

If anyone has ever doubted that Robin Hayes would say or do anything to get through just one more election cycle, take a look at his remarks on the Iraq War just days after narrowly clinging to his seat by 330 votes in 2006.

"Most of our forces will be out by 2008" promised a humbled Robin Hayes in December of 2006.

Now, here's Robin Hayes in July 2007 (with no election on his mind) voting against a bill that would have done just that.

As the election of 2008 approaches, what will Robin Hayes say next? We should all be "flat-out, completely and horizontally opposed" to a 6th term for Robin Hayes. The struggling working folks and military families of my District simply can't afford two more years of his double talk.

And you know what that means. I need your support, now more than ever as the end of the quarter fast approaches.

Please help me tell the real story of Robin Hayes' stories to the voters of my District. With your support at this critical time, we will turn North Carolina's 8th District blue and take our Country back!

Remember Hayes' fight with CNN?

NEW YORK (CNN) -- A Republican congressman from North Carolina told CNN on Wednesday that the "evidence is clear" that Iraq was involved in the terrorist attacks against the United States on September 11, 2001.

"Saddam Hussein and people like him were very much involved in 9/11," Rep. Robin Hayes said.

Told no investigation had ever found evidence to link Saddam and 9/11, Hayes responded, "I'm sorry, but you must have looked in the wrong places."

Please help me retire Robin Hayes.

Thank you Mr. Kissell

For the military families of Cumberland County, I want to say thank you for honoring our sacrifices to this great country. It will be nice to have a Congressman in Washington that will do the right thing and stand by our soldiers. I agree with you that Hayes will say and do anything to stay in office and it is time to sending him packing back to Concord.

We are behind you and look forward to having a real advocate in Washington that will not confuse who our true fight is with. Thank you and keep up the good work.

Ya know...

I realize that not every elected official can be "smart" concerning every issue under the sun. I think sometimes we expect super-human knowledge from our officials. In truth, most elected officials, who aren't on the Bill Clinton-scale of policy intelligence, have only three or four issues that they are really "smart" on.

This being the case, they have to rely on fellow officials, party leaders, executive agencies, etc. to keep them informed. All this is to say...Rep. Hayes doesn't ever know what he's talking about when it comes to the armed forces and foreign policy.

But that doesn't give him an excuse to BLATANTLY say things he knows are not true or doesn't understand the fundamental reasons behind the assertions from others. And when he publicly portrays himself as being there to answer the "911 call" from Fort Bragg (which he literally, as well as metaphorically, doesn't represent), he needs to, as Mr. Kissell has said before, dial 411 before talking about these important issues of war and peace, of life and death.

This is just an example of Rep. Hayes, politics-as-usual, trying to be more than he is, trying to play to the crowd, posturing instead of planning and pursuing information about these important issues.

Kissell team...use this headline in all your ads. If Rep. Hayes can't tell the TRUTH about our soldiers, then it's time to send a REAL representative from the 8th District who will.

Mr. Kissell, we all

Mr. Kissell, we all appreciate everything that you're doing in NC-8. Now that we have some Democratic Congressional Caucus support, I know that you'll be able to show the people of the 8th district that you'll be what they need to make their district a better place from the rural areas that are struggling economically to the Fort Bragg sub-regions that are frustrated with seeing their loved ones continue to go fight a war that was unnecessary. Again, Mr. Kissell, we thank you!
