NCGOP: Dumb, Dumber, Dumberer

Well now, aren't they the clever little fellows. At least they think they are. I'm not some big campaign guru, but I've worked on my fair share and the last thing you want to do is get the opponent's name and face in front of the voters on your dime.

More on this not-so-intelligent design below the fold...

That's exactly what the geniuses at the NCGOP have done. They've printed up 2000 signs that look like they are real estate signs. They look a lot like real estate signs. They have Jim Black's smiling face and his name on them. Very few people outside of the hard core GOP base will know what they mean. Unless, of course, someone calls the number to inquire about the house they think is actually for sale. The fact that it is long distance will discourage many people from calling. I guess they spent so much on the signs they can't afford a toll free number.

What's really sad is they aren't putting them all in Jim Black's district. There would be just enough signs to make an impact in a district, but spread out across the state they will barely create a ripple. Just how many people in the eastern part of the state do you think know who Jim Black is? I don't keep track of Representatives from other districts and I'm politically active. The only people who will get this joke will be the GOP base and they wouldn't vote for Black anyway.

Don't get me wrong. I'm not a Jim Black apologist, but I'm also very aware of what is at risk if the Republicans gain a majority in the NC House or Senate. There is too much for us to lose and I'm not willing to go back in time. I'm not in Black's district and if he is actually guilty of something other than poor judgment I will press harder for him to resign, but until then we need to work to get him elected in November. If it turns out he did anything wrong we can replace him with another Democrat later, but we don't want to hand the seat to a Republican.

Could not be more right

Although we have done something similar on occasion, at least we put a big WANTED or BAD BAD PERSON above it.
Plus, we dont' spend the money to actually print 2000 of them.

Of course they are trying to turn Black into a state-wide DeLay, but I don't see that happening. At least, we shouldn't let that happen.

Jesus Swept ticked me off. Too short. I loved the characters and then POOF it was over.

You're right

and I really don't see Jim Black's "taint" rubbing off on Dems in far off distant districts. He has no opposition in May, so we have to re-elect him and then replace him with another Dem if charges are brought.

Not sure

Charles Taylor's main defense against criticism for his sleaze is the fact that "Dems do it too." Doesn't really matter which Dems . . .

My guess is that this will be widely distributed on the Internets (!) and that it may even rise to the level of interest by some newspapers who like conflict. I wouldn't be surprised to see lame-brained reporters picking up the story and running it as a featurey sort of bullshit piece about the campaign season kicking off, etc.

Let's do our own version with two "realtors" (Taylor and Hayes) . . . but do a better version that doesn't make the mistakes this one does. I'll see what I can do, but if anyone is more adept than I at this sort of thing, my feelings won't be hurt if you take it on.

Not Realtors, but Sleazy Used Car Salesmen

I like realtors, at least most of them. And I'm sure that most used car salesfolk are good, honest, and upstanding members of their communities. But the guy at the heart of the stereotype of the worst used car salesmen is someone that nobody likes.

"All 2005 and 2006 Ethics Must Go!"

"We're slashing and burning prices on National Forests!"

"Prices so low on trade agreement votes we're practically giving them away!"

And not to pick on lawyers, but

reading over my own comment, it was impossible to not hear the voice of Lionel Hutz in my head.

Ass seen on TV!

well crap

it's already in the papers....News and Observer and Charlotte Observer. I forgot to put the links in. I'll do it when I get back...or maybe I'll do it right now.

Emily and I are making the best of her last day without her bossy big sister. She has had so much fun with Katie out of town. The only email addys they have are people who've signed up for their site or other GOP sites. They aren't going to cut into Dem voters via email.

Also with having their press conferences this far out from the November elections this will be considered old news and the newspapers probably won't do too much more with it unless something else happens.

I think they screwed up big time by putting this out so early. They don't need this for the primary elections. I could be wrong...

You're right about it being way too early.

And totally irrelevant for the primaries. Plus it gives us the chance to beat them at their own game! I just love judo.

We don't know yet how effective it will be

Black should resign. He's a weasel. We need to clean the weasels out of the party. Until we do, there's going to be some truth to accusations like this and they will tar all Dems, to a greater or lesser extent, until we purge the crooks from the Party.

It's that simple.

Bill it exists....

but it's www.democratcorruption.com

Bill - when a court or DA says he's guilty or will stand trial that's fine. I'm not a fan, but I am a fan of reproductive rights, access to medicaid and other things that a Republican majority would attack in this state. I don't want to live in a South Dakota...
