Open Thread: Oscar Votes For Democrats

Photobucket - Video and Image HostingAl Gore got his due. Martin Scorsese got his too. Jennfier Hudson went from also-ran Idol to Oscar winner. Forest Whitaker's Idi Amin richly deserved the win. Helen Mirren is, to quote Zoolander, so hot right now. And Alan Arkin surprised everyone with his supporting actor nod.

This is an Open Thread for all things Oscar, all things Democrat, and all things in general.

Didn't watch

but glad to have a summary so easy and painless to consume! I think I've turned anti-celebrity in my old age . . . not just ambivalent, but actually anti.

As opposed to voting for any

As opposed to voting for any of the three Republicans in Hollywood?

I first fell in love with Helen Mirren in...

The Cook, The Thief, His Wife and Her Lover.

There were a lot of up and comers in this Peter Greenaway film like Michael Gambon (Dumbledore in Harry Potter), Tim Roth (Pulp Fiction), Ciarán Hinds (Julius Ceasar in HBO's Rome), Alan Howard (voice of The Ring in the Lord of the Rings Trilogy) and of course Helen who plays Georgie in this film. She went on to star in notable films like Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, Gosford Park, 2010, and Raising Helen.

Everyone to get from street!

The Russians Are Comming, oh, what 1965?

I only saw three of the nominated films, The Departed (I thought it great) Little Miss Sunshine (same) and Cars (my kids liked it)
