Rabid anti-gay "Pastors 4 NC"

The good folks at Right Wing Watch note Jeremy Hooper's column that advises that a group called Pastors 4 NC is holding an event with a lineup of speakers that constitutes "one of the most anti-gay crews imaginable".

Here is a list of invited speakers:

Lt. General Jerry Boykin, Executive Vice President, Family Research Council
Benham Brothers, Benham Companies
Dr. Kenyn Cureton, Vice President of Church ministries, Family Research Council
Dr. Rick Scarborough, President, Vision America
Randy Wilson, National Field Director, Family Research Council
John Graves, Esq., Vision America Action
Dr. Ron Baity, President, Return America and Pastor, Berean Baptist Winston-Salem, North Carolina
Rev. Dean Nelson, Co-Frederick Douglas Foundation
Dr. Mark Harris, Pastor, First Baptist Church Charlotte

The briefing will be held from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at the following location:

Holiday Inn
42 Tunnel Road
Asheville, NC 28805

If you're not familiar with all the folks in this crowd, Hooper's column gives a good run-down of their extremist views, which include the idea that fighting against LGBT rights is fighting against Satan.

But it's even worse than Hooper writes. According to the Pastors 4 NC web site, they're not just holding the one event in Asheville. No, apparently this cesspool is traveling all around the state holding events and spewing the same bile in 12 different cities.

Pardon me while I throw up.

Comments

In case you were wondering

if Pastors 4 NC is associated with the truly horrible Family Research Council, (SURPRISE!) they are.

Besides spewing their vile bigotry across the state, their agenda is to get more wing nuts elected.

Christians vote, right? At least we should. Remember the old adage: Bad politicians are elected by good people who don’t vote? So we need your help, and we invite you to partner with us to:

Inform your Church about the importance of being engaged as citizens.
Raise a Culture Impact Team who will help your congregation register to vote.
Facilitate getting people to the polls during Early Voting and on Election Day.

We'll provide suggested action steps, messaging, tools, and ongoing, hands-on training and support. A renewal of Christian citizenship is gathering momentum across America in response to the threats to our liberty. Let's work together to make North Carolina a leader!

It all makes sense

if you consider that they had to reject a more accurate name for their group because it was too long: Pastors 4 NC who don't put much stock in that "Love thy neighbor" thing and we're not really into the "welcome one another" thing either

And apparently

they couldn't enlist any "women of God bigotry". Not that there aren't plenty.
