Remember what I said about Mike Huckabee being dangerous?

This is, by far, the best political ad I've ever seen. I had tears running down my face from laughing. Not everyone will get the joke I'm sure, but still...

I'm telling you, I agree with NONE of this man's policies, but all we can hope for is that the religious right keeps picking losers like Thompson and Guiliani, and doesn't wake up to the idea of supporting this Southern Baptist preacher in the general election. He's smart, funny, and likeable. OH, and he's a freakin' nutjob.

MATTHEWS: No, no, no. In big cities—I got to tell you something. They had a crime situation in Philadelphia a few months ago, where afterwards, the police stopped five cars in a row, and every one of them were unrelated to the crime, and every car had a gun in it. It‘s become a big problem in the big cities. People are all armed. And it‘s not black people or white people, it‘s everybody.

HUCKABEE: So you think the answer is to take the guns away from the law-abiding people that trying to protect themselves from these...

MATTHEWS: Well, they‘re only law-abiding until they commit the crime, and then they‘re not law-abiding. The problem is the kid who‘s...

HUCKABEE: I‘m not talking about—we‘re not talking about a crime, though, Chris. We‘re talking about a law-abiding citizen like me who wants to protect himself, or like you who wants to protect himself.

MATTHEWS: Right.

HUCKABEE: So when the thug comes up with a gun in his face, he doesn‘t just sit there and have to take whatever the kid with the gun has. That‘s what we‘re talking about in being able to protect ourselves. And the main thing is let‘s build better communities, better families and better education system so maybe these kids don‘t have guns in the first place. If we had more of them with maybe a musical instrument in their hands and we had an education system that challenged them, they might not be so quick to pick up a weapon of destruction, maybe a weapon of mass instruction.

He goes on later to repeat this, kids in the city just need to have guns to protect themselves from...kids in the city with guns.

he is scary

I cannot believe this ad...it is rather ingenious though. Huckabee's extremist tendencies are coming out stronger. Did you see his statements on abortion? He does not even want it to be a state's rights issue..he wants a flat out federal ban. Talk about contorting the constitution

Scaring the hell out of the Republican Presidental candiates

Remember what I said about Mike Huckabee being dangerous?

he is scary* micandacam

Hell! They are all scary except the Ron Paul Revolutionary campaign, who is scaring the hell out of the neo-cons in the Republican party.

November 19, 2007 - In a sign that the amazing one day fund-raising on November 5th, nearly $4.3 million, wasn't an isolated fluke, the Ron Paul campaign today hit $8.6 million for the fourth quarter. This puts them over 2/3rds towards their goal of raising $12 Million for the fourth quarter... Only a little over half-way through the fourth quarter.

With the planned December 16th "Tea Party" fund-raising event chances look good that the Ron Paul campaign will meet its 4th quarter goal, and possibly exceed it. This only a month and a half after the campaign made news for raising $5.1 Million in the 3rd quarter. RonPaulGraphs provides detailed analysis of this remarkable 4th quarter fund-raising... Surely an unpleasant surprise for the establishment.

Thompson skids while Romney, Paul climb in N.H. poll

The standings of the Republican White House hopefuls has shifted, according to a new CNN poll.

WASHINGTON (CNN) – Former Tennessee Sen. Fred Thompson has skidded into sixth place in a new CNN/WMUR poll of likely Republican voters in New Hampshire, edged out by ex-Libertarian and anti-war congressman Ron Paul and former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee.

Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney topped the poll, widening a lead he has held for months in neighboring New Hampshire, while Arizona Sen. John McCain and former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani were running close in the second and third spots.

The CNN/WMUR poll was conducted by the University of New Hampshire between Wednesday and Sunday. Pollsters surveyed 404 Republican voters for the survey, which had a sampling error of 5 percentage points.

it is a really good ad

but it seems that nothing much is changing in Rep polls. Huckabee is still "second tier", and that is not likely to change.

Speculation follows:

I looked at some polls today with an eye to try to figure out how the Rep nomination will go and it seems to me that it will come down to Guiliani and Romney towards the end, each with about 38% of the Rep vote. McCain's supporters will be the wild cards. I figure that Thompson's and Huckabee's supporters will generally side with Romney. Paul's folks will go to Guiliani (or move to Antartica and set up their own country) which leaves McCain's 15% as the "swing" voters. It will come down to just how much momentum Romney gets from Iowa and NH wins, which are likely atm, and can that mo' overcome the mor' (mormon).

Person County Democrats

I actively oppose gerrymandering. Do you?

Live free or die with Rudy Guilliani in New Hamphire!

Paul's folks will go to Guiliani (or move to Antartica and set up their own country)* Pd

Are you kiding? Guilliani is their biggest enemy. How would feel if Paul's 30,000 military gunts were coming for Guilliani Police State ass in New Hamphire with rope? I assume that you are not up to speed, the south pole is not on the Paul supporters tuft aquiring process. There is a land aquirement process that going on right now by the massive Paul supporters....It's call the "Free-State project" which means the libertarians have decided on New Hampshire as the new American State for the future.. Liberals and progressives are welcome during the coming depression. Neo-cons will be detained and transfer to New York City...

I admit to not remembering living in NH,

but I was born there. NHers will put up with Ron Paul types for just so long, and then they won't be welcome (if they ever were). NH is a very cold place when you aren't welcome.

Huckaberry Hound with no teeth according to new Zogby poll!

NHers will put up with Ron Paul types for just so long, and then they won't be welcome (if they ever were). NH is a very cold place when you aren't welcome.* PD

Well they better get use to it, since it appears that Huckaberry Hound is history along with the rest of Police State presidental candiates

Ron Paul Wins Nationwide Zogby Blind Poll
Sizeable majority of Americans looking to vote for candidate who protects liberty, shrinks government, brings troops home

Paul Joseph Watson

Monday, November 19, 2007

A new nationwide Zogby telephone poll reveals that a sizeable majority of Americans are looking to vote for a candidate who protects liberty, wants to shrink government and immediately withdraw troops from Iraq - all traits common to Texas Congressman Ron Paul.

As part of a spread poll commissioned by Jones Productions, respondents were provided with descriptions of four different candidates and asked to choose who they would vote for based on each one's attributes and political platform.

(Article continues below)

Candidate A is a 10-term US Congressman from a large Southern state who is an advocate for a smaller government and individual liberty. This candidate believes in strictly following the Constitution and has never voted to raise taxes. He has never voted in favor of the war in Iraq or the Patriot Act, and wants to bring troops home as soon as possible. As a former doctor, this candidate has delivered more than 4,000 babies. One of this candidate's goals is to return America to the gold standard, and he believes that the current monetary policy needs to be drastically overhauled because of the dollar's decline.

Candidate B is a former governor from a Democratic state in the Northeast. Before that, he was credited for essentially saving the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City. He is a Mormon and family man who is considered a moderate-to-conservative member of the GOP. While Governor, he signed the first state laws in the nation requiring all citizens of this state to obtain health insurance. He is a strong supporter of keeping troops in Iraq although he has been critical of how the war has been handled.

Candidate C is a former two-term senator from a Southern state who was a long-time lobbyist before running for public office. He was chief Republican council for the Congressional committee that investigated Watergate in the early 1970s. He was an actor playing supporting roles in several major motion pictures before entering the Senate, and returned to a prominent role as a New York City prosecutor in a popular network television series after leaving office. He has mostly supported the war in Iraq, but has said he would have managed it differently.
Candidate D is a former two-term mayor of a major city in the Northeast, and is considered a moderate member of the party on social issues. As Mayor, he presided over a dramatic drop in crime in his city, and is best known for his leadership in the aftermath of the 9/11 terrorist attacks. He established a worldwide security consulting business after leaving public office at the end of 2001 He has been a supporter of President Bush since leaving office and supports the war in Iraq.

RESULTS

32.8 per cent chose the description matching Ron Paul, while just 18.6 percent chose the description matching Rudy Giuliani. Just 12.6 per cent went for Fred Thompson's description while 15.1 per cent went for Mitt Romney.

The results clearly illustrate that the country is crying out for Ron Paul, which is why the establishment have launched a PR offensive to marginalize him in order to suppress the Congressman's name recognition.

The sample used for the poll had mainly never or rarely used websites popular with Ron Paul supporters, such as You Tube, MySpace and Facebook, showing that if Internet users who don't use land lines were more fairly represented, the numbers would be even more in favor of the Congressman.

In another poll question, the survey found that the majority of Americans are more likely to vote for a candidate who wants to begin an immediate withdrawal of troops from Iraq.

Over 49% said they were more likely to vote for a candidate who would begin immediate withdrawal, compared to just under 41% who said they would vote for staying the course and around 10% who were not sure.

Zogby released the numbers to us this morning and have indicated that due to the level of interest in the poll, they will be issuing a press release tomorrow.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This is why I hate (most) polls,

because they tend to leave out certain critical information like:

As a former doctor, this candidate has delivered more than 4,000 babies, and he will do everything in his power to reverse Roe v Wade.

It may be a cliche, but it is true: This letter is written not in anger, but in sorrow and concern. It is written to our friends about NRA staff who, tragically, have taken a course which, we believe, would be disastrous for the Second Amendment and the pro-gun movement.

Two of us are Life Members of the NRA -- one of whom was an NRA board member for over ten years. And our legislative counsel was a paid consultant for the NRA.

So we certainly have no animus against the NRA staff, much less our wonderful friends who are NRA members.

In fact, over the last thirty years, GOA and its staff have worked with NRA to facilitate most of our pro-gun victories -- from McClure-Volkmer to the death of post-Columbine gun control to a gun liability bill free of anti-gun "killer amendments."

But those who staff the NRA, without consulting the membership, have now made a series of strange and dangerous alliances with the likes of Chuck Schumer, Carolyn McCarthy, and Pat Leahy. And we believe that, if allowed to continue, this will produce anti-gun policies which the NRA staff will bitterly regret.

Christ said, in the Sermon on the Mount, that "by their fruits, ye shall know them." And, frankly, these fruits are not likely to produce much pro-gun legislation.

Substantively, the Leahy/McCarthy/Schumer bill, which NRA's staff has vigorously supported without consulting with its membership, would rubber-stamp the illegal and non-statutory BATFE regulations which have already been used to strip gun rights from 110,000 veterans. It would also allow an anti-gun administration to turn over Americans' most private medical records to the federal instant check system without a court order.

But perhaps even worse, the bill was hatched in secret, without hearings or testimony, and passed out of the House without even a roll call. And now, the sponsors are trying to do the same thing in the Senate -- in an effort to ram the bill through without votes or floor debate, led by anti-gun Senator Chuck Schumer. If it is good legislation, as its proponents claim, why such fears of a roll call vote or debate in committee?

Indeed, in the face of horrific dissent from the NRA's own membership, its staff has tragically ignored arguments and dug in its heels -- in an almost "because-we-say-so" attitude.

Understand this:

* Passage of McCarthy/Leahy/Schumer will not quell the calls for gun control. To the contrary, it will embolden our enemies to push for the abolition of even more of our Second Amendment rights. Already, the Brady Campaign has indicated its intent to follow up this "victory" with a push for an effective ban on gun shows.

* Passage of McCarthy/Leahy/Schumer will not be viewed as an "NRA victory." To the contrary, once the liberal media has used the NRA staff for its purposes, it will throw them away like a used Kleenex. Already, an over-confident press is crowing that this is the "first major gun control measure in over a decade."

* Taking the BATFE's horrifically expansive unlawful regulations dealing with veterans' loss of gun rights and making them unchangeable congressionally-endorsed statutory law is NOT "maintaining the status quo."

* We are told that the McCarthy/Leahy/Schumer bill should be passed because it contains special provisions to allow persons prohibited from owning guns to get their rights restored. But there is already such a provision in the law; it is 18 U.S.C. 925(c). And the reason why no one has been able to get their rights restored under CURRENT LAW is that funds for the system have been blocked by Chuck Schumer. It is no favor to gun owners for Chuck Schumer -- the man who has blocked funding for McClure-Volkmer's "relief from disability" provisions for 15 years -- to now offer to give us back a tepid version of the provisions of current law which he has tried so hard to destroy.

Finally, there is the cost, which ranges from $1 billion in the cheapest draft to $5 billion -- to one bill which places no limits whatsoever on spending. Thus, we would be drastically increasing funding for gun control -- at a time when BATFE, which has done so much damage to the Second Amendment, should be punished, rather than rewarded.

We would now respectfully ask the NRA staff to step back from a battle with its membership -- and to join with us in opposing McCarthy/Leahy/Schumer gun control, rather than supporting it.

And, to our friends and NRA members, we would ask that you take this letter and pass it onto your friends and colleagues.

Sincerely,

Senator H.L. "Bill" Richardson (ret.)

bull.

Shoulda read my diary on this video ... Huckabee's got so much baggage, I'd love to go up against him. And we'd win Arkansas.

baggage?

Let me guess, he's a spoiled brat who dodged the draft, was hooked on cocaine and was an admitted alcoholic, ran every business he ever started into the ground, who constantly relied on Daddy to bail him out of trouble, and who admits that he ain't very smart.

Huckabee won't have Rove

and hopefully the Supremes won't be voting more than once this time.

Though Chuck Norris could rig an election ....

I don't know anything about this guy

except one thing ... he's never had a gun shoved in his face by an angry screaming man. If he had, he'd know that even if he had a gun, too, he'd freeze, most likely piss himself, do what he was told like he was told just to live to the next second, the next minute.

THEN, after the guy left and left him alive, he could change his pants and go after the bastard. Which would then succeed in doing the one thing that's not needed ... turn the victim into a criminal, too. Awesome idea!!

What an idiot.

Now Rick Flair is endorsing him

For those of you unfamiliar with the Nature Boy, I can only say that if Hucakbee does a Norris-like commercial with him it may be one of the funniest of all time. Woo!
