Sunday August 24 just got a little better

On Sunday, August 24, there is a huge concert at Denver's Red Rock Amphitheater. The information I have is that the concert is invitation only. On a lark I applied for media credentials. I figured a concert of this size would only have creds reserved for networks and big name newspapers and on my application I acknowledged that I was from a small blog however, you don't get what you don't ask for.

Guess what I got!

I am credentialed media covering the following:

The Denver 2008 Convention Host Committee will present an official welcoming concert event for invited guests to celebrate the City's greening efforts around the 2008 Democratic National Convention, as well as to raise environmental awareness. "Green Sunday At Red Rocks," an opening act to Denver's hosting of the Convention, will feature performances by recording artists and environmental advocates including Dave Matthews with Tim Reynolds, Sheryl Crow and Sugarland.

The event also will feature addresses by Laurie David, global warming activist and producer of Al Gore's "An Inconvenient Truth"; Van Jones, founder and president of Green For All; Bill McDonough, architect and sustainable living pioneer; and Robert F. Kennedy Jr., senior attorney for NRDC and chairman of Waterkeeper Alliance.

Executive hosts for the event will be Gov. Bill Ritter Jr., Mayor John Hickenlooper and U.S. Sen. Ken Salazar. Congresswoman Diana DeGette and Gov. Tim Kaine of Virginia also will appear.

The event is made possible by donations from BNSF Railroad, MolsonCoors, Xcel Energy, Level 3, Diageo, and Liberty Media.

WHAT: Green Sunday at Red Rocks, a Denver 2008 Convention Host Committee event.

WHO: Dave Matthews with Tim Reynolds, Sheryl Crow, Sugarland, Laurie David, Van Jones, Bill McDonough, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Gov. Bill Ritter, Denver Mayor John Hickenlooper, U.S. Sen. Ken Salazar, U.S. Rep. Diana DeGette, Gov. Tim Kaine, Elbra Wedgeworth, Steve Farber.

WHEN: Sunday, August 24, 7 p.m., on the eve of the Convention.

The email I received said that interviews would be facilitated by staff. Interviews! I get to interview them? I thought I'd just be chatting about how pretty the music sounds.

Well, Now I'm Jealous

Live at Red Rocks is one of my favorite live albums. If they replicate even a tidbit of that, you're in for a real treat.

Kudos to the DMB for pressing on, in spite of their recent loss.

Vote Democratic! The ass you save may be your own.

If you're lucky DMB will to

If you're lucky DMB will to their version of one of the best songs ever written, The Long Black Veil". What recent loss for DMB? Given what happened to the Dixie Chicks isn't Sugarland taking a big risk performing at a "democratic" and "environmental" type event?

I'm a moderate Democrat.

The loss of LeRoi Moore

From Dave Matthews Band website:
We are deeply saddened that LeRoi Moore, saxophonist and founding member of Dave Matthews Band, died unexpectedly Tuesday afternoon, August 19, 2008, at Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center in Los Angeles from sudden complications stemming from his June ATV accident on his farm near Charlottesville, Virginia. LeRoi had recently returned to his Los Angeles home to begin an intensive physical rehabilitation program.
