Thank you

Last night, the results for our campaign fell short of victory (46%-54%). Together, we worked long and hard, but it was not enough to prevail in this very tough district.

I congratulate Representative Paul Stam on his victory, and wish him well in his efforts to serve our local communities in our North Carolina General Assembly over the next 2 years.

I am proud of the tremendous progress we made. Our campaign added to many up ticket Democratic victories, including a Democratic majority on our Wake County Board of Commissioners, many Council of State races, the Governorship, US Senate, and of course the close Presidential Electoral vote.

We also laid a strong foundation for future Democratic advances in Wake County and in North Carolina. We are slowly changing hearts and minds, appealing to independents and moderates, and inducing conservative voters to cross party lines for quality candidates.

I must thank the many people who made this possible. First, my family, who not only worked hard on the campaign over the last 18 months, but also suffered from the neglect inherent in spending weekends door-knocking and evenings fundraising. To put it simply: "I owe them"

Second, let me thank our hard working staff: Amy Green, Campaign Manager; Evan Degnan, Field Director; and Amanda Eubanks, Volunteer Coordinator. These fine young people went above and beyond the call of duty. They deserve and have my eternal gratitude.

Third, the volunteers who stepped up from day one up to Election Day - door knocking, calling, "lick 'n sticking", fundraising, and poll greeting. I thank you for the labor freely given to move our campaign forward.

Fourth, thank you to all the generous donors, who contributed hard-earned money to a challenging campaign and in these tough economic times.

Last, thanks to the entire Democratic Party, from our new leader, President Barack Obama, to the NC Democratic House Caucus, and all the local Precinct activists who propelled this campaign and many others. I am so proud to be part of the Democratic Party and look forward to my future of advancing our cause at the local, county, and state levels.

Ed, I watched your returns last night

and it was my one moment of sadness. I was pulling for you way down here in Union County.

Vote Democratic! The ass you save may be your own.

I hope you'll continue to come here and share your thoughts.

You've been with us so long you are more than a candidate, you're a valuable member of the community.

Your results were the only nonPerson Co. results I went

chasing last night. You certainly had a great run, and you should be proud of how well you ran your campaign. I look forward to seeing you and Ryan out and about in the world of the NC democratic party.

Cheers,
Mike

I actively oppose gerrymandering. Do you?

You're a class act, Ed.

I'm really sorry that the voters in your district didn't see the light years of difference between you and your opponent. You did good.
