ALLEGED "SOCIAL WELFARE" PAC HAS TIES TO TIM MOORE AND HOUSE GOP: Two years ago, the Carolina Leadership Coalition launched with the stated mission of promoting social welfare by advocating for economic development, innovative education strategies, lower taxation and limited government. But the group’s website and social media accounts show it wants to keep Republicans in control of the state House, where they have a super majority, with lengthy critiques of House Democratic candidates that include brushes with the law, legal disputes and their criticisms of the NRA. Two officials with the coalition also have key roles with Citizens for North Carolina, a political action committee supporting House Republicans. Within a month of the 2016 general election, the coalition gave two donations totaling $175,000 to the PAC. Two other coalition officials are identified as political allies of House Speaker Tim Moore from his home county. The coalition, PAC, and House Republicans also use the same businesses to raise money and produce campaign ads.

NC'S 2018 EARLY VOTING TURNOUT RIVALS PRESIDENTIAL ELECTIONS: After five days of early voting, including the first weekend, more than 450,000 people have voted, according to statistics compiled Monday by Catawba College Professor Michael Bitzer, one of North Carolina's authorities on politics and voting. Those numbers are a lot more like 2016 than 2014, let alone the last time North Carolina had a "blue moon" election like this year's election – a ballot without a presidential, gubernatorial or U.S. Senate race. What's it all mean? Too soon to say, Bitzer said Monday. "If this trend of looking like a presidential election continues to hold (and we may/may not see that happen this week), then I would think that all bets are off for what this truly portends," the political science professor said in an email. "We’ve never seen something like this kind of an early start to the polls in a North Carolina mid-term election, so we may be comparing apples to watermelons."

LINDA COLEMAN MOPS THE FLOOR WITH RIP VAN HOLDING DURING DEBATE: “We all know that the wealthiest among us are getting the majority of the tax cut. We know that the wealthy are the ones who are receiving the benefits at the expense of the middle class and we know the middle class are the ones who are really carrying the whole weight,” Coleman said. The debate opened with health care, which polls suggest is a top issue for many voters in the mid-terms. Coleman said she wanted to lower prescription drug prices and keep the mandate that health insurance companies cover those with pre-existing conditions, claiming Holding had voted 13 times to cut pre-existing conditions coverage. Holding said that the Affordable Care Act, often known as Obamacare, had increased health insurance premiums for everyone. “I voted to repeal Obamacare as many times as I was given an opportunity to for repealing Obamacare,” Holding said. “Sixty-one,” Coleman interjected. “I would have done it 62 times,” Holding replied.

RIGHT-WING NUTTERS TRY TO BOMB GEORGE SOROS (AND I STILL HAVEN'T BEEN PAID YET): An object that appeared to be an explosive device was found in a mailbox at the home of George Soros, the billionaire liberal philanthropist who is a frequent target of right-wing conspiracy theories. The Bedford Police Department said it responded to the address in the hamlet of Katonah at 3:45 p.m. Monday after an employee of the residence opened the package. The person placed the package in a wooded area and called police, who alerted the FBI and the Bureau of Alcohol, Firearms and Explosives. Bedford police said the FBI's terrorism task force was investigating. The FBI's New York field office said on Twitter that it was "conducting an investigation at and around a residence in Bedford, NY. There is no threat to public safety, and we have no further comment at this time."

Sorry about that Soros joke

Slightly on the inappropriate side in context with domestic terrorism. But I had to work that missing paycheck thing in there somewhere, amiright?
