Vision - Gordon Smith For Asheville City Council

This is a speech I delivered on August 20, 2009 at the Flood Gallery in Asheville's River Arts District. The first half of the video is full of thanks for those who have made this grassroots candidate a real contender. The second half outlines a comprehensive vision for the city of Asheville.

If you like what you see, please consider getting involved with my campaign by either volunteering or donating at Gordon For Asheville.

Enjoy.

I wish you were running against Heath Shuler.

Gordon Smith's web site needs a search engine!

I would like to know how he feels about wind energy/renewable energy and does he support commercial wind farms on the highest NC ridges.

How I Feel About 'Em

CHAOS,

Only about 5% of our ridges are suitable for big turbine wind energy production. We're unlikely to have any locations that could be home to a "commercial wind farm" due to space constraints. That being said, I think that we must diversify our energy sources, and wind energy ought to be a part of that portfolio. I think having turbines on the ridges would be an excellent way to increase our energy independence.
