What is going on in Senator Dole’s Office?

Cross-posted from the Brock Log.

I write my elected representatives often and I appreciate the responses I get, even though I know that they're auto-penned form letters.

But, something goofy is happening in Senator Dole's office in Washington.

In the last two months, I've gotten 5 letters from "her." In reality, though, I've gotten three letters. Two of the four are original letters, two more are copies of those and the fifth is the most interesting.

It's a one-pager that says she's glad I write her and appreciates hearing my point of view. Yeah, right, but thanks for the pandering.

Why have I gotten two letters twice and one annoyingly condescending letter when I haven't gotten my answers that I hand-delivered to her representative in August? Presuming, of course, that Ms. Janet Bradbury did what she promised and actually delivered my questions.

If Senator Dole wants to keep her seat in 2008, she needs to start doing a better job answering her constituents without snail-mail spamming them.

Don't worry, Thomas

despite my fervent wish for her to run again, she really doesn't want to keep her seat. And she's doing a good job showing us how irrelevant we are to her. (I get the same BS from her office that you get.)

Glad to have you up and running again!

I used to get the same thing from Burr...

I called his office and let them know I wasn't interested in his spam, that I had never written to him, and would never vote for him. Never got another thing.

Jesus Swept ticked me off. Too short. I loved the characters and then POOF it was over.

oh, do I have a post for you

Empty letter from the Empty Wig

I wrote Dole some time ago, and boy that "Constituent Services Letter GeneratorTM is a POS.

Can you tell what I wrote her about based on this?

Thank you so much for taking time to write to me with your concerns. Receiving your ideas and concerns is so important in order for me to represent you, and our state, to the best of my ability in the United States Senate.

The issues you describe are indeed important and deserve review. I very much appreciate you sharing your opinions and thoughts with me regarding these matters. Please be assured that I will keep your insights in mind should pertinent legislation be considered by the Senate.

Thank you again for taking the time to share your ideas and concerns. If I can be of further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact me.

With my warmest best wishes,
Elizabeth Dole

Her office should save the taxpayer and not bother answering mail.

Ughhh, that's horrible

Maybe I should be thankful she rarely bothers to respond to me.

Yeah......I'm sure it's a tough choice

whether to respond to a letter that starts out:

Dear Empty Wig.......

Robin Hayes lied. Nobody died, but thousands of folks lost their jobs.

Hey Pam...

Have you been reading my mail again? That was the same one she sent me...

I think (and no, I'm not defending her or her staff) that's a generic yearly "hey thanks for giving a poo" letter and not in direct response to a letter sent.

All the responses I've gotten to letters have been information on the topic, but have not addressed my ideas originally sent to her.

Thomas

What have YOU done today to make the world a better place?

I have about 5 of those

and they come so long after I wrote that I can't remember what she is doing nothing about this time....

Me, too!

And it's the same stupid letter. Each time. Moron. (I love the Empty Wig thing. Hee.)

I'll say this for Rep.Coble. His letters are actually in response to the issue I contact him about. He (or, of course, his staff member) mentions the issue or bill by name, and the letter is addressed to me personally.

Burr has responded in a fairly timely manner, and when I've called his office, I've been treated with respect, even when I was quite obviously in disagreement with his votes and actions.

Brad, sure wish you would have stopped by

and visited with us at the Edwards Rally last Saturday...

I didn't know where you were.

The crowd was pretty big, and I was herded into a pen near the front along with David Price, Elaine Marshall and a few others. It wouldn't have killed you to find me to say hello.

:::Spluttering:::

Killed ME! We held up a sign, we saw you being interviewed very close to where we were standing (in our V-VIP section) and HOLLERED LOUD! Did you even look....NO! We watched you cross the street after the interview and it looked like you went into that "Forever Young Spa", we watched and waited for you to come out....:)
