Why can't we register to vote online in NC?

Only 12 states in the US do not have online voter registration. The other 38 make it easy and convenient for people to register to vote. Why is that? Could it be because the Republicans who control the General Assembly don't want the masses showing up at the polls? In today's connected world, there's no good excuse for this kind of backward policy. We buy guns online. We buy drugs online. We pay taxes online. Why can't we register to vote online?

Did our elections board take this matter up?

Not that I can see.

But they should. Because if you try to register online, you end up getting an email telling you, sorry, no can do. You literally have to print out and and mail your voter registration form through the US Post Office. That pretty much sucks.

We definitely need to do this

Of course, while we're at it, we also need to push broadband connectivity out in all 100 counties. But the online registration thing would really come in handy after people move from one place to another. Just finding your county board of elections is sometimes a challenge. It's not that I don't trust the U.S. Postal service, but that would be the one that would get lost, and most people wouldn't realize it until they get turned away from the polls.

Which shows the need for OSEV

Which shows the need for One Stop Early Vote. Another thing the Rs tried to do away with.
