DCCC Writes off The South (Lets keep our money here)

DCCC's 40 Seat Target List
by Todd Beeton, Thu Dec 20, 2007 at 09:12:10 PM EST
Last month, DCCC chair Chris Van Hollen outlined the essence of his 2008 strategy: go on offense against 40 or so Republican seats that they deemed vulnerable. Today Roll Call (behind subscription firewall) is reporting that Van Hollen has gotten more specific:
Among the 40 Republican-held seats the DCCC is targeting generally, Van Hollen acknowledged that not all of them are exceedingly vulnerable to a Democratic takeover. But he said they all exhibit potential.
The Seats being sought by the DCCC are:

In the entire State of North Carolina, the DCCC has identified one campaign to assist, the Larry Kissell for congress NC-08 campaign. Larry Kissell is a worthy candidate and should get all of the DCCC assistance they can afford to provide him. He narrowly lost in 2006. The DCCC came to his assistance only about two weeks before the election. To little, to late. I am sure Larry is going to victory, this time around, more due to his own diligence and hard work than to whatever the DCCC will do for him in 2008, although I am grateful that the DCCC are there supporting him.

The DCCC is supporting candidates for 2 seats in Az, 3 seats in Ca., 4 seats in Fl., 3 seats in Il., 2 seats in Mi., 2 seats in Mn., 2 seats in Nj., 2 seats in NM., 4 seats in NY., 5 seats in Oh., 1 seat in NC and a few other single seats in other states.

The DCCC is fully within its rights to support, or withhold support from any candidate from any state.
No-one in N.C. has, or should have, the power to dictate anything to the DCCC regarding where they choose to assist candidates, so please don’t think that is where I am going here. Its not.

North Carolinians supporting candidates in N.C. now know that whatever money they send to the DCCC to assist Congressional candidates, will almost entirely go to Congressional candidates outside of North Carolina.

I would simply like to implore all North Carolinian Democrats who are supporting the Democratic Congressional Candidates in North Carolina to donate directly to those candidates, thereby ensuring that those donations will go to help a North Carolina Congressional Candidate. I have donated to Larry Kissell and other Congressional Candidates in N.C., and I feel all of you should do the same, and when you do, contribute directly to the candidate’s campaign. I think you know more about to where your political contribution should go than the DCCC.

Just to clear the air, yes I did request DCCC assistance for my campaign directly from DCCC Chairman Van Hollen. He actually never replied, but when I called there I was sort of told, “Don’t call us, and we probably won’t be calling you”. That was before the DCCC announcement that they had already decided to withhold support to all Democratic candidates in N.C. other than Larry Kissell.

I thought it necessary to tell all of you that, least some-one suggest that I am all about sour grapes……Well…maybe I am just a little,(afterall I am human), but still we now know that the DCCC will not be spending your money in North Carolina to any great extent. Lets keep our money here for our candidates.

Yes, I know I will get heat over this, but it won't be the first time.

Since When is Campbell Brown My Hero?

Trying to get a straight answer out of McCain spokesman Tucker Bounds.

BTW: I'm glad that Talking Points Memo posted this excerpt on Youtube, but since when does TiVo'ing something allow you to brand it with your logo? That's the Wild West...

The Dark Side Chronicles

Charlotte Mayor Pat McCrory says he wants to change the culture in Raleigh. I guess that's why he wrote this letter to PAC lobbyists asking for their fundraising help. Change you can believe in? Riiiiiiight. Join the conversation here.
