The delusions of Phil Berger
It appears that being a member of the Republican party these days requires selective amnesia, with a healthy dose of delusion mandated for anyone in a leadership position. A quick look at a column by Phil Berger in today's Fayetteville Observer will drive the point home.
North Carolina had little to show for the amount of spending and taxing its leaders were doing. We had one of the highest unemployment rates in the nation, average incomes had fallen over the last decade and our public education system was broken.
Not one to let facts stand in the way of his political agenda, Berger's column is cut from the same piece of rotten stock as Mitt Romney's entire presidential campaign. Revisionist history, distortion and lies - all designed to feed an outsized ego.
The only reason this column is printed in a real newspaper is because Berger is a political bigwig. If any regular person had written this bullshit, he would have been laughed out of the newsroom.
