Democrats Deliver While Pat Makes an Obstruction of Himself

While Democrats continue to deliver on promises that put working families first, North Carolina Republicans pride themselves on obstructionism.

Here’s a quote from the Republican Pit Bull Patrick McHenry in today’s edition of The Hill:

“We shut down the House for nearly a week, forcing the Democrats to make public earmarks in the appropriation bills,” McHenry said. “This was an enormous success.”

“Shutting down the House for an entire week to make a point that Republicans will remember but the public won’t robs voters of action on issues they care about like the Iraq War, health care, education and aid to military families,” said NCDP Chair Jerry Meek. “McHenry’s constituents ought to ask if his obstructionism serves his interests or theirs.”

Here’s where Democrats are leading the way on important issues:

  • We are making America safer by strengthening our borders; ensuring first responders have the tools they need to do their jobs; and enhancing security at our airports, ports and mass transit facilities.
  • Senate Democrats are making higher education affordable for more Americans by passing a bill that provides $17 billion in additional college aid to students - the largest increase since the G.I. bill.
  • Last week, for the first time in a decade, Americans earning the minimum wage received a long-overdue and well-deserved raise, benefiting millions and helping to reverse years of wage stagnation.
  • The Senate unanimously passed a comprehensive path to address shortfalls in the care of injured troops and veterans that improves substandard facilities like those at Walter Reed, expands medical care for veterans, bridges gaps between the Departments of Defense and Veterans Affairs, and resolves inadequate severance pay.
  • Despite the President's objection, we are also giving members of our military a 3.5 percent pay raise.

How can he be proud of that?

What a thug!

Being proud of bringing government to a standstill is not something I would advertise.

Since you asked (heh)

Sadly, the new GOP is synonymous with being a stubborn, greedy, obstructive and destructive arse. Paddy's just doin' his part to be a GOoPatron unit. Or just a "unit", as the case may be.

I simply cannot comprehend

I simply cannot comprehend the mindset that would permit someone to be proud of allegedly stopping Congress from working (which didn't happen, really.) I believe that Jerimee may have shown the wrong bodily tube in the picture.

And then to think that he has the nerve to talk about transparent earmarks! Heh. Merry Christmas, Patty.

Anyone in (or near) the 10th that can video

or audio record his town halls (in mid-August), please reply here, or contact me through this site or the "email us" link at Pat Go Bye Bye.

The dates and places:

Avery County (Aug. 13), Mitchell (Aug 14), Rutherford (Aug 15.) Gaston/Cleveland (Aug. 16), Lincoln (Aug 20), Catawba, (Aug 21), Iredell, (Aug 22), Burke (Aug. 23), and Caldwell (Aug 24)

Wouldn't it would be wonderful if he lost it like he did last year when three lovely women (including our district chair and a county chair) got the giggles as he kept referring to Clinton, as in Bill. Imagine in 2006 trying to run on Bill's supposed failures . . .

News of the 10th district: See Pat Go Bye Bye,
