Didn't mean to be gone so long
Gah, I absolutely HATE being sick. I hit the germ-jackpot lottery back in mid-Feb., catching bronchitis from my soon-to-be-ex boss. It was a lovely parting gift, indeed. *eyeroll* After two weeks of Mucinex and other drugs, simply saying "Hello" no longer starts a paroxysm of coughing, so I call that a win.
Gotta say though, it sure makes a great first impression to come to work sick the first week or so at one's new job -- still, it's not like calling in sick would have been any better... talk about a classic "no win" situation.
Anyway, I'm on the mend, and this coming week I'll be back volunteering, in the evenings this time, with the wonderful Jim Neal folks. Can't wait!

I was wondering what happened to you!
I'm glad you're back and on the mend. How's the new job going?

Thanks
It's good to be back!
The new job is going well, though I'm keeping my head down and my mouth shut, politically. Everyone else there has a conservative bent. When asked who I'm voting for in the Presidential race, I plead undecided -- the Zathras/Zathras ticket appeals, as does Londo/G'Kar (it's a sf/fantasy publisher so sf-related humor is a good deflection tool).
Oh, go for it.
Get your liberal on!

Well...
There IS the "Jim Neal for Senate" sticker on the back of my car. ;)
Glad you're on the mend!
Welcome back. Sounds like you have your work cut out to convert all your coworkers!
Thanks
It's good to be back. Sad to have to think in such mercenary terms, but I think I'll at least wait until next month when my health insurance kicks in before I start trying to convert anyone... ;)
Glad you're feeling better.
No one whose chosen representative pic has mountains in the background and a beer stein in her hand ought to have be out sick for so long.
By the way, I've never been able to figure out--what is the blue and white in the lower right corner?

Thanks for the kind words and the welcome back. :) I love all of my state, but I have a particular fondness for the mountains (as well as for good German pilsners)...

It's supposed to be an old-style iBook, circa 1999 or so back when they still came in pretty colors. More pictures here.
We finally retired mine a couple years ago and replaced it with an Intel Core Duo iMac -- which is a wonderful machine, if boringly white. ;)
I love my
iMac.
Ditto
Sometimes I joke that I didn't just marry a man, I married his Mac network. ;)
I'm jealous
We're upgrading some of the computers at work, and it's going to be hard to fight the urge to get one of these.

As cute as that is
I've convinced myself that I like my built-in drive. Katie's Macbook is pretty thin and light as it is and she doesn't have to attach anything to run programs or burn cds......at least that's what I'm telling myself. :D
Robin Hayes lied. Nobody died, but thousands of folks lost their jobs.
aha!
Thanks, my curiosity is satisfied. Technology troglodyte that I am, I'd never even seen one of those.

the rolling flu tour 2008
Sorry you were grabbed by one of these viruses, and glad you are on the mend. I always cough from allergies or something(I blame sheet rock dust these days) and live on cough suppressants, so I don't know if I have had flu or not.
We are on different shifts at the Jim Neal campaign, so keep in touch with post-it notes on the desk or email or something.
The Head-bangers Blow-Your Nose Ball
Our youngest is horribly sick yet again. She's too tiny to blow her nose, so it causes all the coughing, hacking, stomach-full-of-goo problems you might imagine.
I am so tired of the winter.
My sympathies
I remember those years.
Makes Mom and Dad at least as miserable as the little one. I hope she's better soon. Is she too young to take guaifenisen syrup? If she can take it, it might thin everything out and make her feel better.

Ugh
The poor thing. It's so hard when the littlest ones get sick and you feel all sorts of helpless.
Thanks
Will definitely keep in touch. :) Have you found any cough suppressants that actually work? That was one of the more annoying things about the past few weeks -- nothing was stopping the cough, except for the high-octane Nyquil stuff that I could only take just before bedtime. During the day, nothing I tried worked worth a @#*&$%^.
