Disgraced Former Congressman Wags His Tongue

Charles Taylor is feeling chatty and sounding like a man running for Congress:

“We are in trying times right now,” Taylor told the crowd of about 100 people at Opportunity House. “Look at the last two months and it’s been nothing but a show from Democrats about ‘How can we win the presidency two years from now,’ not on what we can do for people today.”

Taylor added: “The House spent days and days condemning going to Iraq, the same people who voted for it, then the Senate killed it. The Democrats haven’t got a clue what to do in Iraq or for the economy, they just criticize and fold.”

“Sometime in the year you will have a tax proposal come out. It will be tied in to the Iraq War and then instead of abolishing the capital gains tax, they’ll adjust it for the middle class,” Taylor said. “It will be a substantial tax increase, and that will put us into a recession.”

Taylor, ignoring reality, lies with abandon. Leaving out the wildly successful first hundred hours during which Democrats passed six major pieces of legislation, he condemns them for playing politics and is trying to pin Iraq's failings on them as well. Then he just makes some stuff about some Iraq War Taxes, which no one has proposed, and bets that there's a recession coming that he love to lay at the feet of Heath Shuler.
