Do good. Be nice. Have fun.
Finding balance can be hard sometimes, especially in politics. It's easy to get mean, and the truth is, I don't want us to be mean. Us as in anyone. For example, I shouldn't have started that photo caption contest about Liddy, I didn't think through that it could go south so easily. It wasn't nice.

I've written a novel in which I cooked up my new philosophy of life: Do good. Be nice. Have fun. These are the threads of life fully filled. From chapter 82:
“Venn diagram,” says Oscar. He grabs a pen and draws three interlocking circles on a paper towel. “That little space where the circles overlap? That’s the sweet spot. Good. Nice. And fun. All at once.”
I intend to operate inside that sweet spot, and I fully expect to fall short. I already know that I slip off center in every direction, probably every day. I know that I'm not always doing good or being nice or having fun. But it does seem like it would be worth striving for.
It happened while Hook was telling a story about the hammerhead shark she caught off Eddie’s pier in August. Halfway through the fish tale, she smacked her thigh and changed her tune.
“I guess killing sharks doesn’t do much good,” she said. “Ain’t nice, either. It’s fun for sure, but that don’t seem to be enough any more.” She paused for a beat to push up her sleeves. Tattooed angels swarmed the room.
Can I get an amen?

Did you know you can write anything you want here?
Well, almost anything.
War And Peace By James?

Chapter 82????? Good grief! Are you writing " Gone With The Wind" or " War And Peace" together? Hell! I will be dead before I finish reading your book and the Planet will be laser bean to dust by the Alien Lizards.
If only
If only that sketch would replace all the random racist/homophobic/unintelligible things that litter many bathroom stalls and walls, the world would be a better place.
Well, so long as it stayed out of Larry Craig's line of sight of course.
Anyway, this sounds wonderful. When's the estimated date of release for this novel, good sir?
Hopefully by December!

There's another kind of balance in that venn diagram
It's a right brain sympathy expressed in left brain terms. Cool. Yin & Yang of a sort.
Amen.

I heard a rumor about your novel, James

Odd.
I have written this before, but 3 years ago when I wrote my first "users manual" I had a whole page of rules and regulations and more online. About 3 months ago when i made my newest user manual I had one rule.
Doing good and having fun are pretty easy
it's that be nice part that tends to be a chore. :::Hands in the air::: Amen!
No matter that patriotism is too often the refuge of scoundrels. Dissent, rebellion, and all-around hell-raising remain the true duty of patriots.
Progressive Discussions
Marshall kinda beat me to this punch
in his recent response to me of a comment I posted to him, but I thought this thread was a good place for me to make the following observation about you, Jamester (Or, as Caveman might say, "Jimmy").
I like that you had second thoughts about the caption contest. You take your faith seriously, which I also admire. I admire your committment and your zeal, and am certain that if I were to show up at your door, you'd make me welcome. (No, that is *not* a threat).
One of these days, James, I hope we'll sit down together.
You would find him quite delightful in person.
I promise you.

Pointing at Naked Emperors
I'm not sure I've ever been delightful
But Brunette is more than welcome at my house any time.
Actually, we've met
Linda,
James and I have met "in person" at the Jim Neal "do" at James' house way back when.
I'm sure he recalls.
Bru'
He does indeed
We had a long chat about the gubernatorial primary on the front porch.
I chatted with Jack a lot longer.
He said he wouldn't vote for Perdue either,
and I stroked him behind his ears.
