Duke Energy is allowed one of two plants

Today the Utilities Commissions announced its decision to allow Duke Energy only one of the two coal fired plants at Cliffside.

All the news all month long, from the Oscars, from Texas, from e v e r y w h e r e,
was not supporting the application by Duke Energy.

Apparently one of the Commissioners was opposed to both of the plants. Since Duke Energy had already stated that they would not build just one, this provides some wrinkles in the rush to add more coal fired plants.

Thanks to the growth in public concern for global warming and for the effects of CO2 emissions from coal fired plants.

We need to keep that drum beat going too

We need to push more awareness and stop the crowd who don't understand science.

Robin Hayes lied. Nobody died, but thousands of folks lost their jobs.

Coal Fired Plants

Yes
there is a ton of info but the newspapers do not write about it in a way that is easy to get the drift on what it all means. They quote someone and then someone else. You get the idea there are opposing opinions but no deeper analysis.

SO BlueNC can be a place for us to share info. What was amazing to me was to learn that there are cleaner cold burning technologies that Duke Energy was not proposing> And that we were going to pay for whatever it costs them, if they lose money, we still make the shareholders happy, because they have no incentive to slow us down from guzzlign more coal/energy. It hurts their bottom line.

And whatever happened to energy conservation?

And wind and sun? NC has great wind and sun.

The deal on one isn't going to work.

No way, IMO. Let's just hope the Commission vote kills this sucker deader than a whatever. Imagine building new coal plants in this day and age. What a bunch of idiots.
