Election Fatigue 2008
With the conventions still many months away, I’m already tired of this election. I’m tired of both Hillary and Obama. I’ve been tired of McCain since he supported Bush in 2004. The ironic thing is, I should be elated. I should be in a state of euphoria, just because the disaster with the middle initial “W” is almost gone from Washington for good. But I’m not happy - just tired. And worried about the future.
Neither Clinton nor Obama instill much confidence within me. Hillary seems to be drivin by pure ambition. To be sure, she’s smart enough, and she had to have learned something from Slick Willie, but I don’t see a single spark of compassion in her soul. Not like her husband. Not like Jimmy Carter, LBJ or JFK. All I see is a blind ambition - and new personality flaws with each passing day.
I certainly don’t see the person that I saw several years back, when I believed that she lived on my side of the political fence. I saw her ambition even then, but I thought that behind it was a person who cared about the little guys and gals who were struggling to have a life in Amerika. Oh, I know, she talks like she cares about us little folks, but her actions betray a cold and calculating heart.
These days she’s flirting with the racist Democrat vote (yes, Virginia, there are still racists who are Democrats). She plays into the fears of those who are uncomfortable with the notion of a black president. Obama must secretly be some kind of black nationalist because he continued to go to a church that believed that black people tend to get a raw deal in this country, a church that dared to suggest that black folks were just as good as, if not better than, their white oppressors. In her mind, I guess, he should have gone to a church that held Stephen Fetchit up as a role model.
Oh well, she was a Goldwater Girl after all.
Then there’s Obama. He’s certainly been playing his cards right, proving that he’s nothing short of a master at the game of politics. And he does seem to have a degree of sanity that’s refreshing in the modern Amerikan political world. But he also seems to be a bit naive. And I’m not convinced that he would have the ability to play the tough card if he needed to.
Oh, Kucinich, Kucinich, wherefore art thou Kucinich. If only you weren’t so short, so the press would’ve given you a fair chance.

hi Christine
I think a lot of people are sharing your fatigue. Election season starts earlier and earlier, and because of the competitiveness of the Democratic Primary, it's just going on and on.
I honestly believe it will get better after our primary on May 6.
And I think I agree with you - if Kucinich wasn't so short, he would have gotten better coverage from the media.

I totally agree.
Neither of the current candidates are were on my top list.
Here is my candidate preference list in order.
1) Al Gore
2) Dennis Kucinich
3) John Edwards
4) Barack Obama
.
.
.
9 Hillary Clinton
.
.
Last) Gravel
But even if Hillary does get the nomination, I will still vote Democrat in the general. We can't stand another four years of Bush bullshit.
