Endorsements Rolling in for Larry Kissell

Larry Kissell has started racking up the endorsements and all those people who wouldn't give Larry a dime last cycle are falling all over themselves to raise money for him. After the constant struggle for attention last cycle, this is almost surreal. Almost.

This is far from a sure thing. Larry Kissell is working harder than ever and it's that fact that should scare the living daylights out of Robin Hayes. He hasn't let up for a minute and Larry is still teaching school, so he's doing all this campaigning after school and on weekends.

Larry's a working man and I can't wait to see him in Washington working for us.

Now, about those endorsements............

First, the League of Conservation Voters, a non-partisan group, has endorsed Larry. My friend Steve Hudson, Larry Kissell's Communications Director, sent out a great writeup in the newsletter, so I'm going to steal directly from him.

Folks, my boss Larry Kissell, the Democratic Candidate for Congress in North Carolina's 8th District, has earned the influential endorsement of the League of Conservation Voters for his 2008 run. With global climate change very much a reality now and the situation future generations face becoming more dire everyday, the independent League of Conservation Voters released their 2007 scorecard of Congressional members last week giving Kissell's opponent, Republican Robin Hayes, an abysmal 15 percent for his environmental record last year.

Just so you can understand how long Robin Hayes has been a determined enemy of the environment, his 15 percent score this year is DOUBLE that of last year and TRIPLE his score from 2001. Imagine, if you can, a record on the environment so awful, you can improve over 300% and STILL be considered among the worst offenders in Congress. If the Academy Awards last night had an Oscar for most improved performance in the category of abysmal, Robin Hayes would have been named leading man.

The great news here is that every $15 contribution is being matched. You can go here to have your $15 contribution matched.

The second endorsement I'll bring up tonight is my sentimental favorite. Do you remember the Edwards Evening News Roundup group from DailyKos? They've decided to continue their good efforts on the web. They changed the name to Edwards Evolution, Next Revolution. I love the new name and I love the idea that a strong group with a positive voice is still at work on the web. As part of the new Revolution, they are endorsing candidates who share their progressive goals. Larry Kissell has received one of their first three endorsements.

There is an announcement thread on the recommended list. Please head on over and share your thoughts and offer some encouragement to this great group of JRE supporters.

Congratulations Larry Kissell and all on the Kissell team.

So very sorry

for two Kissell threads in a row, but I'm not feeling well and was afraid I wouldn't get this posted in the morning. Also, wanted you to get a chance to visit the EENR thread while it was on the rec list.

Robin Hayes lied. Nobody died, but thousands of folks lost their jobs.

He needs all the help that he can get

I see that 8th district democrats are shedding their guilt from the '06 elections and finally decided to support Mr.Kissell. It's about time.

You're right....it won't be any easier to win than last cycle

It might be a bit harder, but It does look like all those who sat out last cycle or fighting to be in the front of the line this cycle. All I can say (and I'm not with the campaign, but love Larry) is welcome and Thank you!

League of Conservation Voters Release

Thank you, Jerimee

I'll never forget the first time I saw League of Conservation Voters and thought it was League of Conservative Voters. I was soooo confused as to why they were endorsing a Dem. Heh

2 billion dollars for Wind Power...so that we can burn domestic natural gas in our cars...I think.

TrueMeckDem on Myers Park Pat

"My opinion of Pat has changed over the years. I used to think he was truly a man of the people but the longer he has been mayor, the less I think of him.

As with most cities, Charlotte has three political parties: Dem, Rep, and Chamber of Commerce. Pat is definitely the puppet of the COC here. What is good for business is good for Charlotte and Pat ... very personable guy, he has gotten a bunch of Dems in these parts to vote for him but I don't trust him."
