Equality PAC Endorses Moore for Governor

Equality PAC, North Carolina's state-wide organization working to elect candidates who support fair and and equal treatment for the LGBT community, has issued endorsements for the upcoming primaries. In the all important Governor's race, Equality has endorsed State Treasurer Richard Moore.

“Treasurer Moore has demonstrated leadership in standing up for fairness in state government and is committed to fighting discrimination as Governor,” said Ian Palmquist, the group’s Executive Director. “We are proud to support his campaign.”

The group acknowledged that Moore's decision to adopt of a non-discrimination policy including sexual orientation for the Department of State Treasurer as one of the key reasons for the endorsement. Indeed Moore was one of the few members of the Council of State to add sexual orientation to his agency's non-discrimination policy.

Equality also endorsed Janet Cowell for State Treasurer, June Atkinson for Superintendent of Public Instruction, and Josh Stein for State Senate in Wake County's hotly contested District 16 contest.

Thanks for posting this here Mike

I'd read someone ask somewhere else why you chose Moore, so it's nice to see a reason listed.

And Helms begat Reagan...

Arguably, Ronald Reagan's Helms enabled win in the 1976 NC primary was all the encouragement he needed to try again in 1980, setting the stage for the Reagan Revolution and synergistic escapades like this one...

TrueMeckDem on Myers Park Pat

"My opinion of Pat has changed over the years. I used to think he was truly a man of the people but the longer he has been mayor, the less I think of him.

As with most cities, Charlotte has three political parties: Dem, Rep, and Chamber of Commerce. Pat is definitely the puppet of the COC here. What is good for business is good for Charlotte and Pat ... very personable guy, he has gotten a bunch of Dems in these parts to vote for him but I don't trust him."
