As a member organization of the newly formed Progressive Caucus at UNC Law (featuring other progressive groups like ACS, the Young Democrats, amongst others), ACLU will be co-sponsoring their first event, which happens to be a happy hour social event, in the same vein as last year’s ACS happy hour.

It’ll be at the Wine Bar on Franklin Street at 7:00 on next Tuesday, January 24th, and will feature appetizers and drink specials.

The Young Democrats of Wilkes will be presenting a guest speaker, Rachel Lea Hunter. Hunter is a Progressive Democrat running for NC Supreme Court Associate Justice. The Young Democrats of Wilkes will be holding their regular monthly meeting at 6pm, which is open to all Democratic or Unaffiliated voters, then Hunter will begin speaking at 6:30. Hunter's presentation is open to the public.

Lambda is excited to be able to offer a free screening of "Tying the Knot," a documentary chronicling the history of the struggle for same-sex access to civil marriage and its legal protections. The documentary follows several couples and how their lives have been affected, including a lesbian 9/11 widow and a widower who lost his ranch to his partner's estranged family.
