Federal Elections Commission to Meet in Charlotte, Diebold to pitch new voting machines

NC Verified urges concerned citizens in the Charlotte area to drop by the Charlotte Convention center to partake in the Federal Elections Assistance Commission's Public Hearing and also IACREOT (voting machine) Trade show and see what is up. Diebold, the company that challenged NC election law and then left the state, will be peddling their wares at the Charlotte Convention Center.

Also, this is unique opportunity to be at a public hearing of the EAC, the federal commission that has some impact on how our elections are run.

Diebold may still be trying to get their foot in the door in NC. Just this past May, they were showing off their crummy electronic poll books in Raleigh NC. Their sales brochure featured Linda Lamone, the anti paper election chief over Maryland's elections. That didn't work out well for Ms. Lamone, who is now in trouble for the ethical violation incurred by the use of her endorsement and picture in Diebold brochures.

The IACREOT conference/trade show begins July 17 and ends July 19th.
The EAC's public hearing is on July 19th.
Both will be held at the Charlotte Convention Center.

At overlapping times, the voting machine vendors will be peddling their wares.

2007 IACREOT Trade Show opens July 17 and closes July 19th at 11 AM.
Voting machine vendors will pay $1,000 per 10' X 10' booth. The show is open to "exhibitors, delegates, and registered guests."

The vendors and guests will head over to the Charlotte Motor Speedway on July 18th, to hob nob and socialize.

A printable conference agenda is here

If anyone here can attend any of these events, and pick up the "sales" brochures, blog, or take notes and share, we would appreciate it. We especially want to see if there are any voting machine companies are using the likeness and endorsement of election officials in their sales brochures. We also are concerned about what new slick sales pitches are being used, and who is pitching them.

I won't be able to go

This is the day after we move and something tells me I'll be busy. I wish I could.

Robin Hayes lied. Nobody died, but thousands of folks lost their jobs.

Vote Democratic, the ass you save may be your own.

No Way, No How, Nu Uh!

Not. Absolutely No DIEBOLD in NC.

Ask Ohio.

Ask Florida.

Got a gripe about all the new voting rigmarole? Blame Theresa LePore. It's her fault. Democrat LePore was Palm Beach County's elections supervisor in November 2000 when millions of Americans got their first inkling that voting isn't foolproof.

Ask Texas.

Ask New Mexico

Ask wtf happened to the paper trail. There wasn't one.

July 17-19. Who else is going? Is the Gov? How about those foxy Senators we have? Any of our Congressmen? State Reps?

Ya'll need to go. I'll go with anyone who wants to go.

No Quarter!

I probably can go

I am only a few blocks from the Convention Center.

This is important

New Diebold machines. Electronic? Run through RNC servers? We really need to stay on top of this.

I'm not in Charloot, nor anywhere near but if you are going I will meet you there.

EAC Meeting

Well I doubt I will have time to meet with anyone. I was just going to pop in and get a brochure.

Thank You

We Do Not Want This.

What we have works fine, lasts a long time.

There have been waaaay too many problems with these machines in other states.

No test drives here, please.
